    Oak, Sapele and iroko box for my chess pieces. All unpluged except for the hinge and magnet holes used a drill press for that. Finished with liberon special pale french polish and briwax.

    Custard, the price is for Western Red Cedar Air Dried - No2 Clears Grade, which could explain the high price. I wasn't expecting that. will have a look at the yard next to me for some PAR redwood. Oli

    Another box, first hand cut dovetails. I wouldn't make a living from it very slow and there was a few gap, but first a first attempt i am very pleased. Top and bottom is maple the side were in the scrap bin at the timber yard ( i suspect to be sapele) Oli

    hinge suggestions please

    have you thought about Barrel Hinges? https://www.pennstateind.com/store/BHINGE.html you would just require to create a 45 degree chamfer on both the top and box on the back pieces, this would make the box stop at 90 degree. Oli
