    Lidl wet/dry vac Sunday 15th

Thanks, Pete. Wouldn’t have seen these otherwise. Just went and bought one. Nearly bought the Parkside compressor too as I want one for a nail gun for brads but decided to wait as I don’t know enough about them

Thank you, I agree I don’t like the narrow boards, I was planning on three oak boards with three ledges and no braces. I have nine to make!!

Wooden hinges oak ledged cottage doors

Quick question about these doors, do the boards always have to be tongue and groove boards?

Wooden hinges oak ledged cottage doors

Hmmm, you could be right I suppose. Was thinking of a contrasting wood to make a feature but I suppose it could be overpowering

Wooden hinges oak ledged cottage doors

Hi I’m about to start making oak ledge doors for the cottage. I’m making the Suffolk latched and bolts from oak aswell. I quite fancy making wooden strap or T - hinges too. Has anyone made these recently? I’ve seen some on YouTube but can’t see many examples. I know it might be over...

    What is David Charlesworth using?

Gosh, I appear to have started a debate here, thanks everyone for the input. As someone who is a self taught amateur, and had gap of a few years since I had a workshop, I was of the view of David Charlesworth was using it, it was probably the done thing. I am keen to use my hand tools...

    What is David Charlesworth using?

Just saw a video on YouTube where David Charlesworth puts the chisel into an small metal guIde to get the angle right for sharpening his chisel. Does anyone know which one he is using, please?

First air nailer gun kit. Looking for recommendations

At the risk of hijacking this I was looking for a recommendation for a compressor so didn’t want to duplicate the post. I looked at Axminster but they were 300-400. When I spoke with them they said because they are quiet and maintenance free. I was wondering how much of a faff draining and...

Just arrived - knocking noise from Record Bandsaw(updated)

There is a knocking noise coming from the bottom wheel of the BS500 when it is running. When you turn the wheel by hand you can hear it slightly but it is much louder when running. There seems to be some ‘Give’ in the bottom wheel so when you turn it by hand it moves forward as it should but...

Just arrived - knocking noise from Record Bandsaw(updated)

This has just been delivered this morning - bit of a beast to move. As I'm starting the workshop from scratch again (after a few years gap) I'm buying machinery in stages. Now just hoping Record still have the manual for a BS500 as it's not in the back catalogue on their manual page...
