WOODRIVER 5 ½ JACK PLANE V3. 27/11/14 I am just sending off this plane, which came to me as part of a passaround, kindly organized by Peter Sefton. There have been at least three You Tube videos, giving the impression that the planes work after a very rapid sharpening. They may work, but are...

Millers Falls cigar shave. Any users please?

I have just sharpened a nice reproduction of a Millers Falls cigar shave, Very perplexed by depth of cut control, or the lack of it. Should the bevel on the inside of the blade be kept as fine as possible or am I barking up the wrong tree? Best wishes, David

    Gidon on U tube

Nice film clip on U tube, Gidon demonstrating ruler trick during plane blade sharpening and kindly mentioning my name. I feel the need to point out that he is moving the blade along the stone while I move it across the stone. Short stroke, no more than 1/4 to 3/8", with the tip of the blade...
