What Finish Should I Use on Nightstand/Bedside Table Build - WIP, Advice Needed

I then created a template for the legs and cut these out using the bandsaw, flush trim router bit and the planer and then glued them all together. Once dried i gave a nice roundover to the full leg construction. On the brace part, i chose to keep the grain running the same way as the legs...

What Finish Should I Use on Nightstand/Bedside Table Build - WIP, Advice Needed

Update on the nightstand project. As i mentioned before this is my first proper woodworking project. I will admit i had no idea, i saw a maker on youtube building with Black American Walnut, fell in love with the look and took a cut list and purchased what i needed. Only after paying and...

Cans or Bottles, Can you tell the difference?

The difference in water is also why coca cola tastes different in different areas/countries. The syrup used is the same worldwide but the water has different tastes resulting in coke that can taste different.

    What cost for European Ash

    What cost for European Ash

You feel bad and I understand how you feel. However, while yes you perhaps could have and should have done more due diligence, it does not change the fact that they are blatantly attempting to rip you off for the lumber. Its sad that they would try that to be honest, even if they know you...

Sounds like you have been taken to the cleaners. You are too nice lol, I would name and shame so all here know to avoid this timber merchant.

Waney Edge Walnut and other slabs

Not spoken to anyone yet but there is a few around by the looks, it's a shame nidd valley saw mills closed down because they were good for slabs, uses to go buy full length slabs of sycamore for turning at very good price.

Waney Edge Walnut and other slabs

Is that British Hardwoods in Keighley? I did visit them a few weeks back, they did have some good stuff but not a huge range and a bit on the expensive size. The person there was throwing prices at me faster than I could think and it all felt a bit dodgy haha, it was a bit like "i'll make you...

Waney Edge Walnut and other slabs

Good morning! I have been scratching around everywhere to find some reasonably priced (i.e not what you have to pay on ebay or etsy) walnut or other wood slabs for coffee/dining tables. Does anyone have any reasonable suppliers? I am based in Yorkshire but can travel. Thanks in advance!

    Securing your workshop

Generally speaking, CCTV is a waste of money, thieves pay very little attention to it. In fact I read an interview of a bike thief who said he targeted areas that had CCTV because it means people let down their guard in other ways. I'd spend the money on a decent lock system, bracing and...

    Entered a parallel universe

I also have a 4x4 shop and have a bandsaw, planer thicknesser, lathe, table saw which is 1mx0.7m, a 1x1.6m bench, a second bench which is 1x1m, a decent space dedicated to wood storage as walls and ceilings isn't an option unfortunately and a dust extractor. It's tight and I have to move stuff...

Workshop improvements Vs actually making stuff

One things that hits me from the varying posts above is I have recently just rediscovered woodworking, only properly invested into it in the last couple of months and if you saw my workshop 2 months ago, it was a shed with a lot of old useless junk in. I just had in my mind I would be more...

Workshop improvements Vs actually making stuff

I have an issue. I don't seem to have the workshop improvements Vs actually making stuff balance quite right. I tend to be making stuff during the week (after my day job so not much time gets spent) but then think up a ton of things I need to improve about my workshop which I then spend all...

    Surface Planer

I am not sure to be honest, I just noticed it appears to be the exact same thing as the SIP which is generally considered a decent brand I believe and for the money it seems reasonable. Still if wanting something long term and more usable, searching out a decent old Sheppach or Kity or similar...
