Rutlands table router
This was bought as a gift and although unboxed and put together, it has never been used. As useful as this would be, I just don't have the space. It retails at £250. Looking for £200 or nearest offer. Collection only from North Bristol.
On a new board, I give 4 coats of mineral oil and then finish with a board wax. Then every few months, give a coat of the wax again and the boards look great.

I've got the DCF887, which has the 3 speeds, and it's the best impact driver I've used, especially for the price. Used for heavy DIY, not professional, but has bags of power and the 4ah battery lasts forever.
One thing that makes me cringe, is that things like walnut are so common in the US, they use it as firewood! Buying a nice piece in the UK is far from cheap. Typically, a 6" x 6" x 3" turning blank would cost about £18 and a 10" x 10" x 3" is £50! So in terms of timber, the US beats the UK...
Hi all,
I have a Evolution Fury tablesaw and noticed it was difficult passing wood through, like it was pinching. I put a straight edge against the riving knife and noticed that the blade looks a bit twisted. Is it possible to adjust the blade alignment at all? I couldn't see anything in...
I agree with the B&Q wood being no good. Within 48 hours it had started to warp! Good to practise on but need to find something else for final pieces. I did look at birch or maple planks but very pricey, especially if you need the wood planed, which I do.
Thanks Mike. I'm looking at better quality bits or a kit to see what's around. The kit I have now was very cheap so I'm sure that is part of the problem. The rest being me! :)
Thanks Steve. Yes, it is variable and I'm using a small bit. I'll try bumping the speed up to see if that helps. I was also probably moving a bit too slowly so will try improving that too. I'm just making a few wooden toys to get a feel for it so am using standard PAR board from B&Q...
Thanks for all the advice. The router is only a cheap 450w 1/4" hand held. I may invest in something bigger in time if I use it enough but I will try some sort of table or putting a scrap along side the piece. As mentioned, the router did tip a couple of times even with me doing my best to...
I try to cut in a direction that the grain is supported. So in the pic where the wood is burned, I started at the bottom of the wood and worked up. Is this the correct method?
Hi all,
First time using a router and found the cut very poor. Against the grain seems to chip and burn. Admittedly its a cheap set of bits so wonder if that's the problem or maybe not fast enough speed. I currently only need one router bit and I've seen a Trend one in Toolstation for about...
When I set up my workshop a year ago, I purchased a table saw, thinking I would get lots of use out of it. Yesterday I ordered a bandsaw as this is what I really need. The table saw was luckily only a cheap Evolution one. I bought the Axminister craft AC2606B. I wasn't able to find much out...
It does feel more like it catches, so I think it's the rest. It's a standard record power rest so I don't know what they are like out the box. I've only used the lathe for maybe 20 hours so far. I also have a curved rest which is powder coated. That isn't overly smooth either.
Hi all,
I am finding that when running my gouge along the tool rest it seems to 'stick' and not allow a smooth pass. I've tried gently rubbing with high grit sandpaper and applying wax but it doesn't seem to really solve the problem. Is there anything I can apply to the rest that will help...
