I use danish when i do kitchens just a bit of an unplesant smell.

you could always cut off the nosings on the treads and put an oak plant on the front put some 6mm oak venered ply on the treads and the same on the risers, i did this years ago on a stairs for someone and it looked well when it was finnished, i also scribed up the sides of the strings aswell...

Well if you try some 0000 on scrap piece you will see it doesnt mark it, an Like i said in the post you are not directly on the oak as the sanding sealer Has put a clear coat on it.

Its 0000 grade wire wool very fine, iv done quite a few stairs this way. The wire Wool has no effect on the oak as it has been sealed with sanding sealer.

Dont mean to rob the post but iv just done a howdens oak kitchen in white tewksbury last week an they want a unit making to match. Its the one with the raised grain, ive spoken to the guys at howdens an they said they will give me the paint code but im unsure what type to get, any ideas would be...

I usually do 2 coats of sanding sealer then a quick denib with oooo wire wool then put the wax on with 0000 wire wool aswell then just buff up. i find its the closest to a natural colour on oak.

Iv got the smaller gcm 800, had it for a few years now its a great little Site saw lite enough to carry up ladders,id love its bigger sister, my mates got one An its a cracker!
