Possible to covert cordeless tool to corded?

I'd be wary of applying mains voltage anywhere near a tool designed for batteries.

    Festool with sawstop.

    I take it you don't wear a seat-belt in your car ?

    Victorian lathe rescue.

My very first lathe looked a lot like your Hodgson, but with an R D Melhuish label. I found a picture of mine in an old Melhuish catalogue of 1893, so definitely Victorian. I believe Melhuish was to a large extent a 'badge engineer' - perhaps Hodgson was too, and both lathes came from the same...

Have you had your booster *** ?

My original jabs were Astra-Zeneca, and I had a Pfizer booster yesterday. Feeling a bit rough now, but no worse than a good hangover. The. injection site is pretty sore though. The mass-vaccination organisation was not of the best this time round - the first invite letter was to a vaccination...

Has the forum been hacked ?

I think this is an indication of why so many forums have changed to this sort of layout. I didn't like it when I first saw it, but so many forums (fora?) have gone this way now, that I fear we're just going to have to get used to it.

How do I rekindle my enthusiasm?

I'm in the same situation - same age, same problems, same lack of enthusiasm. I'll be interested to see what this thread has to say.

    Old dog new tricks

Rustins metal lacquer - I made a model cannon which rusted in about 5 secs whenever it was touched. I gave it a coat of Rustins metal lacquer and it hasn't rusted since (several years), despite repeated handling.

    Accuracy

I buy my (soft)wood unplaned over-size from an excellent local timber merchant*, and planer-thickness it to size and square when I want to use it - it means I can hand-plane one side of twisted or warped wood to straight before I machine it, without losing-out on the finished dimensions. (*...

    Holiday Traffic & Noisy Neighbours....

I'm 5 miles from Lampeter - I was in Tregaron this morning, at that silly little counter in Spar that purports to be a Post Office.

    Holiday Traffic & Noisy Neighbours....

That can't be Wales, there aren't enough sheep... I live (I suspect) not too far from you Naz, also in a lovely bit of west Wales countryside - nice and quiet except when the RAF decide to do a bit of training on the Cardigan Bay ranges, as we would appear to be used as a waypoint on their...

I use Gimp. It's not a one-step process, but it's pretty trivial to do.

For future pictures and projects it's fair enough - it is their business after all. For existing pictures and projects, it smacks of 'bait & switch' tactics - people put those threads together with the reasonable assumption that the images would be freely available for the foreseeable future.

Rob Cosman - Wooden hinge box

I haven't seen the video, but in metalwork the easiest way to get a hole in the middle of a round piece is to make the hole to size first, mount the piece (using the newly-made hole) on a sacrificial pin fresh-turned in the lathe, and then turn the outside diameter of the piece to size...
