    Douglas Fir

Yes quite possible. Ill have to look into it. Do you know of an alternative timber that would suite?

    Douglas Fir

There are several lengths at 12'6" long from 6"x3" to 6"x6" and many uprights at 4"x4" so a bit of a mixed bag. The timber yard I was about to order from decided in their wisdom that they didn't want to supply it as it will be wet when cut and will split badly as it dries. Don't know what to do...

    A Dillema

Don't know which way to turn now. I was on the point of ordering about £1200 worth of Douglas Fir to construct the frame for a conservatory/sunroom and the wood yard said they were not happy supplying me as the wood would be wet when cut and it will split badly as it dries. Don't know what to do...

    Douglas Fir

Hi, thanks for your reply. My wood supplier has just told me that he is not happy supplying me with this timber as it will be wet when cut and will split. He couldn't come up with any alternate suggestions. Any ideas what timber I could use apart from oak (expensive) to build this?

    Timber framed building

Hi guys, I need some advice please. I am planning to build a timber framed conservatory/sun lounge. Initially I was going to use Green Oak, but because of the way it twists and turns and being worried about the glass sealed units breaking, and of course the cost, I am considering building it...

Hi Guys, Still looking for a planer thicknesser that won't break the bank. Bandsaw problems

Hi Bob, Thanks for the advice. I had no idea that if you use a blade for a curved cut it will not run straight again. But I suppose if you think about it it is obvious. Now all I have to do is find out how long my blade is and choose a replacement. I need the saw for furniture making mostly in...
