General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

Good tips for wooden shed, but you are complaining about a cheap shed lasting 'only' ten years? From what I have read that is fantastic value for money! Most say cheap sheds should only be expected to last a couple of years, though I think that is exaggerating somewhat.

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

Yes while no immediate neighbours, they are not a million miles away. Still a few residential properties dotted about. One is within sight but they have several acres themselves with an open field of theirs between mine and their house. They have been very nice and relaxed with me so far and I...

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

I do not have any neighbours within about 1000 metres so should not be much of an issue there to bother people. Everyone in the country has their own fires they are burning now so what is one more, at a good distance from their own house?

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

You mean the £100 quid one your daughter has with no issues? Would certainly opt for one of those over the £500 and up ones if the cheaper one works fine! Ah good tips on economical use of the space in the cabin. Ta.

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

Well I have been living in a space only about 2 metre long x 1m wide x 1m something high for over a year so even if your original estimation is correct I think it will be a luxury compared to what I am used to! I think 10 ft x 10 ft is a good size for storage of tools and workspace and bit for...

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

Well my van knowledge will carry over here it seems. I did not like the idea of 'vapour barrier' membranes which are popular in the vanlife insulation field. So many big egos too around their way of doing it which I found bizarre when getting into it. I opted for cork for insulation and...

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

Ok, what about making a ramshackle shelter myself from what is probably 'none ideal' wood from my existing trees as compared to a cheap prefabricated shed? I can't give the tree types but can say they are straight and are about 30-50 feet in height with whiteish mottled, scaly bark. The bark is...

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

What is the cheapest one possible which will have a venting system? I was an outdoor one with a flu for only about £120. Looked the same as those £500 and upward ones. Well maybe a large initial outlay for a traditional one but must think of the then free fuel from land if I will be planting...

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

Well aware of the physics of that having lived in my van exclusively for over a year!

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

Hmm is this another reason to get a basic 12v system and buy a diesel heater? I have a diesel heater and cooker in my van. I was thinking to avoid using electric altogether for the shed setup but maybe it would make more economical sense? I had thought to make a zero electric system for both...

General thoughts of whether better to buy a metal or wooden shed particularly if I want a stove with a chimney?

As I won't have power tools wooden shed seems a better idea but metal I read is better for less upkeep and longevity. I was thinking longevity isn't that much of a bother as long as it lasts a couple of years and I read you can 'patch it up' easier compared to a metal one, albeit that the metal...

Suggestions for a lockable storage shed/workshop I could get asap?

Although I had the romantic idea of making everything myself with my own wood it doesn't seem practical at the moment as I want storage and space to work immediately. Looking at probably around 10ft x 10ft and lockable. The tools won't be worth anything but I want to feel stuff I put in there...

Can I make all usual structures with just wood from my small woodland?

Probably harder to get hold of nowadays as I imagine he is a minor celebrity in the hippy circles and probably charges thousands to get an audience with him. Yes I had read about brithdir mawr recently. The about page on their website is certainly full of drama! It bursts the bubble of the...

Can I make all usual structures with just wood from my small woodland?

Aye! Now that might be a valid use for them! Pallets idea is worthless since I am unable to get my hands on any. Now I have more tools I am favouring taking the wood from my own trees again especially since I now plan to replant with fast growing willow. Some are up to 30-50ft tall or so, yet...

Can I make all usual structures with just wood from my small woodland?

Yes, having talked to my mum she said the same and talked me out of it. :) I noticed the price is similar even for smaller batches of that same super willow breed so I plan to just get 200 to start and then get more after if I want. I have since visited her and took back a few cuttings from...

Can I make all usual structures with just wood from my small woodland?

How would the gravel stay on top of the tyres? If you mean fill the tyres with gravel that would take a lot. My neighbour was giving me some ideas, as he is a dab hand at carpentry, for making a solid base. His suggestions were just as stated though, carpentry based rather than woodworking. He...

Can I make all usual structures with just wood from my small woodland?

Well I brought the camera last night then suddenly realized today I forgot the charger. 🤪 I might be able to rig it to charge from my van leisure battery though. Will see when I get some time.

Can I make all usual structures with just wood from my small woodland?

I can post pictures at some point, but don't have the camera yet. Plan to go back to pick up supplies soon. I was thinking maybe if there was a site with common uk trees I could find the ones that match that way. Looking in the little wooded area there were some shoots on the trees that look...

Can I make all usual structures with just wood from my small woodland?

Thanks, yes I joined there as well asking the same. Yorkshire willows looks way cheaper and only £14 for 100! I realized looking on the site that those mentioned earlier on offer for 10k of them you can buy much smaller amounts but for comparable price. I can buy a couple of hundred of these...

Can I make all usual structures with just wood from my small woodland?

No, I wrote that I volunteered somewhere that coppice workers would come by and give advice here and there. I never said anything about working as a hedge layer. You just mention 20-30% would be lost so why would it be ludicrous to go over by a bit. Someone else said it would take in the...
