    Hi all from Lincolnshire

Small world! I know Wellingore well, I used to got to youth club there as a nipper! I mainly worked at European Gas Turbines/Alstom/Siemens whilst living in Navenby and then Bracebridge Heath before moving down to Oxfordshire about 5 years ago. I do really like Lincoln and would happy have...

    2" x 72" UK?

I know a Sega button layout when I see one! Arcade machines etc are another hobby of mine :D Can I ask what the controller is for? Has it been repurposed?

    Remote switch on of Extractor

It might not be a quick fix but I liked John McGrath's approach shown in his wireless dust extraction control from multiple switches video.

Getting MFT top made. 96mm vs 100mm & Material

Thanks for the replies all, much appreciated. So it sounds like there are a few accessories that would benefit require 96mm centers. What I guess I really should be asking, myself more than anyone, is apart from being a lovely nice round number, what benefit would 100mm spacing give me over...

Getting MFT top made. 96mm vs 100mm & Material

Morning all. I'm getting some panels CNC routed from the Sydenhams / Avonply.com for an office desk. I also want to get a MFT top CNC cut so I figured whilst I'm paying for delivery of the other panels I may as well get them to cut and ship a MFT top for me. I've got a couple of questions...

Is offset and a roughing cut a sensible way to avoid tear out with template routing?

I used to do this a lot when template routing acrylic sheets. I would use a 3/8" bit with a 1/2" bearing on which leaves 1/16" of stock on. I would then remove this last 1/16" with a standard 1/2" flush trim bit. I actually have a video of this from some years back: Normally I would locate...

Lego + Woodworking (Stop motion video)

This is not exactly a new video but it popped up again recently and thought I would share in case anyone had not seen it. Some of the techniques are a little 'interesting' but it's a fantastically creative video non the less

Withdrawn Mitre gauge for drill press, compatible with 1/2" mitre slot

Its completely off topic but I work in Haddenham and the inlaws live there too. Small world! I'm currently living in Fairford Leys but I'm moving to Upper Arncott next week.

    Banggood / Drillpro Tools

I've bought a few bit from banggood including some of the [200mm and 400mm T-Rulers] which look really nice, I've not had chance to use them in anger yet. Delivery was fairly quick and I didn't pay any customs fees. I've just ordered about £300 of woodworking bits from them in one of their...

    Gaming

I have a lot of love for Space Invaders. The first ever arcade game I played on was Space Invaders on a cocktail table in a hotel in Blackpool. I've made a few Space Invader things since. This is a clock I made from 3mm black and white acrylic. It was mainly made on my router table using flush...

    Gaming

Bonus points if anyone can ID these: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A Up, Down, Left, Right. You should hear a noise like a ring being collected. Then, hold A and press Start. There's a major clue in the second one ;)

    Gaming

I found Doom and Doom 2 pretty scary back in the day when I was a young'en. I can remember playing them both at my friends house and for a start he didn't have a sound card so all of the SFX were output from the internal speaker in bleeps and bloops which was pretty lackluster. I remember going...

    New Number 1 DIY disaster

Ouch, I feel your pain. I think you're going to struggle make that invisible. What's the reason for now wanting to start again? Is it material cost? Could the material be repurposed for splashbacks etc or for another project or possibly sold on?

    Gaming

Slightly OT here but great stuff, I love the bottom lit acrylic. A laser is definitely on my list of things to get. Ideally I would like something fairly large format like a 1080 with a 80-100w laser. May I ask what laser you have?

    Amazon versus Screwfix

This was going to be my suggestion too and something I often use. Just stick the Amazon url of the item into the box at the top of uk.camelcamel.com and you can see the price history and decide if it's a good purchase at this time.

    Gaming

I've been into gaming for a fair few years. We got a Spectrum +3 with a whopping 128k of RAM one Christmas which I'm guessing was approx 1986. That got me hooked and I've always had various consoles and computers since then. Growing up I always had an interest in arcade machines and I got into...

    3D printing, where? Any suggestions

That's very nice of you (y) I picked up a Prusa MK3S+ kit just before Christmas and I couldn't be happier with it. It's going to make an excellent addition for the workshop, although I wouldn't keep it in there.

    Another new guy...

Thanks for the welcome guys. Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.... and definitely overrated! Hmm, ok. Could I ask how not to sharpen a plane or will that also incur the wrath of the sharpening gods? Wow, small world! I actually grew up in Navenby which is 3 miles from Welbourn...

    Another new guy...

Good afternoon all. I've been browsing the forum for a little while now and I thought I should introduce myself. My name (if you couldn't tell!) is Fran. I'm 38 and currently live near Aylesbury and I work as a CAD/CAM Applications Engineer. I originally grew up in Lincoln and I was there for...
