Mitre saw blade choice for hardwood

60 to 80 teeth Tripple chip negative rake would be good for laminate but might get cloged up with wood waste and start to overheat if used for hardwood. For hardwood 60 teeth would be enough and alternate ground. Negative rake is pretty much standard on mitre saws. The number of teeth...

    CNC dust and smoke management

CNC router/spindle cutters should be set at the right speed and feed to produce chips so mesh in this case would not work very well. Dust can cause rubbing and burn out the cutters so the aim is to produce chips that can be cleared. Using mesh for just a laser might work though.

    Laser upgrade

First thing is ther are different types of laser beams each with their advantages and disadvantages: Diode, Fiber CO2 etc. Metals generally require a different laser beam tham say wood. I think it has something to do with the lenght of the beam. I have a 20w Diode laser that will cut 10mm ply...

    CNC moving Z-axis during cut

A very basic answer: I think you may find that UGS will send and interpret the G code co-ordinates to the CNC Machine but is not generally used to create the G code, for example UGS will interpret the G code signals and move the CNC axis in the Y+, Y- direction Z+ Z- etc. You need software...

    CNC dust and smoke management

I have a Hilti vacuum that I use for my CNC I simply attach the hose from the Hilti vacuum to the ceiling using bungee cord (Two attachment points) which seems to allow the hose to move easily without restriction but also stay above the gantry. 1500mm x 700mm work area on the CNC so should also...

    Kitchen Cooker Splashback

That's a thought  Thank's for that every suggestion with a lead is helpful. Yes I'd agree some of the extras Wren supply are not top end or even middle of the road but I tend to think they do have some nice kitchens. I'm not sure if they want stainless steel but if they do it could be...

    Fitted cabinets for lounge project

This might not be what you want to hear but I would suggest with so many questions about building a cabinet you might also think about subscribing to a cabinet making course before you attempt the build. Success in making cabinets only begins once you have gained the necessary skill to...

    Kitchen Cooker Splashback

Thanks for that I'll tell them to take a look. They are removing all of the tiles currently on the walls then re-plastering. They have ordered a worktop and upstand for the back of the worktop (to match the worktop) and then just would like a splashback above the hob. I could always cut and...

    Kitchen Cooker Splashback

Gas hob and it's not for me it's my daughters kitchen, I'm just making it and fitting (Just about finished). They were going to buy one from Howdens but Howdens only had 600mm wide splashback so they have left it and looking for one that will hopefully fit the opening. The opening is H 960 x W...

Thoughts on sash window costs & time

I would say if you are getting £35 an hour that's fine and if your neibour wants more made then he is also happy so just keep the charges the same so you can improve your facilities.

    CNC rpm & feed

It seems that what started out as a feed and speeds question has evolved into a general CNC conversation. I have not been following this thread recently because no new threads have been put up but I am interested in the conversasions so could people start new threads so me and others know a new...

    Making my own kitchen 😥🤞

Just a couple of prices for you. Their edging tape is competitive too. £90 for delivery so try to get what you need in one order if you use them. The birch ply might at first seem expensive but you may not need to edge it and it won't chip so worth considering.

    Making my own kitchen 😥🤞

Not really, Ollie 78 has come up with possibly the best solution. You need to buy a saw blade similar to the one below to stand any chance: Of course the size has to be right for your saw. I bunted one while cutting out the panels for 14 units so I recon you will need to have it re-sharpened...

    Making my own kitchen 😥🤞

I'll go through your responce if I may: A table saw should produce a clean cut on the top surface of melamine with the right blade but it will still most likly leave a chipped under side cut... you really need a panel saw with scoring blade for best results. Having said that I have made kitchen...

    Wood ID please.

There are people on here that are far better placed at identifying wood than me and I am sure they will come along in time. If you could take close up photos as well as the ones from a distance but also end grain photos it will help identify the wood. I did work in a yacht building company for...

    Making my own kitchen 😥🤞

I would very much agree with Ollie on this unless you are on a very tight budget or can't buy the sizes you need. The main reason I have made melamine units on the kitchen I am currently working on is because it's for a family member and trying to save them some extra cash but also because most...
