    Christmas Presents

    Hi. I did get some woodturning related presents. Mainly new Chisels, and the Sorby Sharpening system, what a difference that made to the chisels!! and my turnings!! I upgraded my machine to the best i could afford at the time, and got the Record CL4, good lathe, with some minor flaws...

    Brass/Gold powder

    Hi. I have been using coloured powder paint, tapioca/rice mix and fibreglass resin. the tapioca/rice mix shows up lovely and is like a marble effect when turned. One thing though put the rice through a blender to break them into smaller pieces. Woodie :wink:

    Some recent turnings

    Very nice work, well done. I do like the shapes, have never turned leylandi, i don`t think i will after the trouble you went through with it. I hads some alder that was very dry and had spalted, i used a lot of sanding sealer on it and i can say the sanding sealer trick does work very well...

    Wet yew

    Brilliant turning, well done. I have some yew in storage, will be turning something like yours, thanks for the idea. I have always stored my wet wood with wax on the ends, it has stopped the end cracks. Cheers Woodie :wink:

    Which first lathe?

    Hi. I had a Perform CCL lathe for approx 18mths, i did have a few problems with it. Cutting out, unable to turn the stuff i wanted to as the machine was not up to it, i.e slowing down when pressure was applied to it. Luckily i didnt pay to much for it as it was second hand. I have now...
