Ich bin ein Holzarbeiter (German tool logo's)

I have no idea, Carl. But there have been many firms specializing in wooden parts of all kinds, for example handles for files and chisels. So it may have been standard practice. Wolfgang

Ich bin ein Holzarbeiter (German tool logo's)

Sorry, Carl, for not replying last year. I read your questions, but forgot about them. The octagonal handles have been introduced by Georg Ott/Ulmia around 1930. I have not yet found a patent specification, but a nice picture and description in their 1937 catalog. "ges. geschützt" means...

    ID for plane iron

Like this one? This is a mark of the Czech company Narex, established in 1919 by Vaclav Richter: http://www.holzwerken.de/museum/hersteller/narex.phtml More info in English: http://www.narexchisels.com/Narex_Chise ... trice.html Wolfgang

    Funny face stamp

Nothing special, just raking sunlight and my smartphone camera. One of these days I will try your photographic lighting trick with a glass pane. Wolfgang

    Funny face stamp

This mark looks pretty close, so the face is actually part of a crown? I examined the iron again with a magnifier. There is no heavy corrosion in this area. I can see the face very clear, but nothing around it. On the other hand, the eyes and the mouth of the face have their counterparts in the...

    Funny face stamp

Can someone, please, help with identifying the maker who used this funny face as trademark? The Burys marks I've found look quite different. His name probably starts with WILLIAM, the rest is unreadable due to incomplete stamping. Wolfgang

    Mystery logo on pliers

Just recently I started a project to put some of my catalogues online in high resolution: http://kataloge.holzwerken.de/index.phtml The page showing the revolution counter comes from a so-called Z-Katalog (published in 1937/38). It contains all kinds of tools for working wood and metal (page...

    Mystery logo on pliers

Just found an ad in an old Remscheid directory (1929). The maker is Gustav Klauke, never heard that name before. The tool pictured in the logo can be seen here in more detail ("Umdrehungszaehler", revolution counter?): http://kataloge.holzwerken.de/zkatalog/ ... te_256.jpg Wolfgang

can anyone identify this tool please

Don't know for sure, but Google probably searches only US patents. Your bench stop was patented in GB: GB598219 (A) - Improvements in work stops for carpenters' benches...

    car booty 13/11/2011

Here are some pictures of my drill. First two are from the same angle as your pictures. The others show the gear wheel from the handle side and the position of the letter 'B': Wolfgang

    car booty 13/11/2011

Nice finds! I have the exact same drill. The only marking, apart from the upside down 'A' in the web, is a letter 'B' stamped on the back of the crank handle (you may have to extend it a bit). I checked my catalogues and the closest I could get is a very similar drill made by Metabo in Germany...

    Drill Press

Momentum is mass times velocity, but the function of the wheel is not about velocity, instead it is for feed control. While you lower the drill bit, the wheel is stopped. As soon as the bit hits the wood the wheel starts turning and reduces the feed. The amount of feed and with that the force...

    Drill Press

Hello, Shakey, and welcome to the forum. The reason why you haven't got an answer yet may be, that this is a German drill press. I found a very similar one in my catalogue of German manufacturer Paul Krampen in the city of Leichlingen (not far from Solingen and Remscheid). Here's a picture from...

A Hungarian tool collector told me that the "Voskov" company still exists and even has a website: http://www.sizprom.spb.ru/ Wolfgang

    German brace chuck

You probably talk about this kind of chuck. It is designed to hold two different kinds of drills, with square shanks and with flat shanks. Although your brace does not look old it certainly is, because they are not made anymore for a long time. Wolfgang
