    Repointing using lime mortar

Specialists near us used building sand, but the colour is wrong for here. I asked a conservationist in Dorset what he was using: lime putty, building sand and stone dust - for the stone colour. Lime putty is way more sticky than hydraulic so much easier to use. I would mix hydraulic the night...

They must be having a right laugh

Plus, why hasn’t the UN approved Minsk peace agreement been implemented? Instead the US (and minions) are trying to work up Ukrainian neo-Nazi militias to conduct a suicide mission on Donbass and Lugansk. If Russia intervenes to protect the ethnic Russians, it will be an “attack on Ukraine”...

They must be having a right laugh

They did more than their share winning the war. As for trying to stay out of it, there is a far more egregious example.

    How do you identify wood?

I used a chap in Italy to do a microscopic identification of sleeper wood. Kew Gardens also have this service. (It’s pricey, so it depends how interested you are). That reminds me, the guy in Italy wrote a book about how to do it, last year...

Table saw Blades - seeking advice & information

I used a Magnusson with one face rounded. The rounded angle to replicate the scalloping of the blade tooth. Nothing special. I sharpen chainsaw chains whenever I use them, so sharpening the saw blades didn’t seem too much of a chore.

Table saw Blades - seeking advice & information

I ripped about 4 tons of untreated tropical hardwood sleepers using a variety of blades. The Makita 24T type worked better than anything else I tried. They would have to be sharpened every 12 metres or so - I used a file and rotated a few of them. Very cheap blades. That said, cutting the dense...

Any (post 2008) Economists in the house? - Inflation.

It’s clear your 2C is not based on facts. The US chief witness against A has recently been recorded saying he made up his testimony, and the latest news is that the CIA has planned assassination attempts against A whilst an asylum seeker in the embassy - which significantly undermines the US...

Any (post 2008) Economists in the house? - Inflation.

A sex crime that was not proven, where other journalists did far more of a jigsaw identification, and where Murray was the only journalist ever to be jailed for such an offence. He’s was jailed, like Assange, as punishment for letting the public know the truth. In fact, his accounts of the...

    Log burner flue issue

It was the middle England cottage house too. Open fire with smoke going out between the tiles. Everything black.

    Log burner flue issue

You could make a brick rocket burner outside, with a cavity to put in a few loose fire bricks. Heat them up, then use metal-work tongs to transfer them into a grate in the studio. Sauna-style. My question to you is how do you split eucalyptus? I took down a big limb from a blue gum and cut it...

    Wood identification help

If it’s heavy I'd agree with prunus, though it’s often solid orange in the heartwood. If it’s light, I’ve seen willow that looks similar.
