    Great Sketchup tutorials

I guess his tutorials sometimes assume you've learned how to use the basic tools in SketchUp already.

    Great Sketchup tutorials

Here's another approach to drawing dovetails that I think is easier. And even easier than that is the method shown here.

    sketchlist - any users here?

Mark, your comments are interesting to me. It sounds like you're a bit of a pioneer. I'm curious about your statement about joints being "pretty tricky in other software." What other software are you comparing to?

Which Software do you use? Sketchup, AutoCAD or another?

Woodcrafter, that's a good testamonial for SketchUp except for one thing. It's no wonder you couldn't get on with SketchUp 9 since there never was a SketchUp 9. ;) The version after SketchUp 8 was and is SketchUp 2013.

    Advice needed on first design

Simon, just ignore Jacob. As usual, he's an ass. SketchUp is a good aid to use for visualizing your project. Nathan, that's a good idea. I like the second one. It would be easy to cover up the game without disturbing it and certainly the extra surfaces will be handy.

    SketchUp Make and Unions?

You might find this useful information. You should look at this, too. The Solid tools only work on "Solid" components and groups. Union is one of the Solid Tools, which is only available in the Pro version of SketchUp. When your 8 hour trial period runs out, those tools will go away as SketchUp...
