Wadkin Lathe RS - Banjo Attachment... Dismantling

I can only suggest the banjo handle may have been pulled so tight that it's moved slightly on the shaft and formed a step in the pin. As the handle can be tightened both clockwise and anti-clockwise, it's impossible to know which way the step might be. I suggest you just keep at it - making...

Wadkin Lathe RS - Banjo Attachment... Dismantling

I can't see from your first photo, just where that pin is. But to take it apart you need to remove the pin just visible to the right in the second picture. The pin is a tapered pin, so it only comes out one way. You need to establish which end is the smaller diameter and punch it out from that...

Can anybody beat this for old equipment

Wallace no longer maintains his website, but we can now confirm that your father's lathe dates to 1935. Cheers, Vann.

Can anybody beat this for old equipment

It's only a pup, Doug ;). It's a Wadkin-Bursgreen and they didn't come into existence until ~1956 - so it's not even 70 years old. It looks similar to a mate's Wadkin RZ - and that's a very nice machine. Cheers, Vann.

    Wadkin PK restoration

And to the best of my knowledge he no longer does restorations. Having finally settled on the machines he wants, he has converted his workshop back to woodwork. He let his website go. If you're looking to date a Wadkin (no pun intended) go to the Canadian forum. Cheers, Vann.

    8 point sockets

I didn't know such sockets existed. I use 12 point sockets for square nuts (and hex nuts) - or spanners if I don't have 12 point sockets of the correct size. Cheers, Vann.

    Woodhaven2 heads up

Oh dear. An improved version you say? My experiences with "upgrades" is they make the experience worse. Fantastic new software improvements that decide that you are a fool and they will set out your post the way the programme thinks it should look... I walked away from the Canadian forum for...

    Record 044 without cutter clamp

Or a 040, which might be cheaper. Cheers, Vann.

A little truth for a change.

Good Lord Phil. Next you'll be claiming that Trump won the 2020 US election, or that Putin invaded Ukraine to protect the people of the Donbas!!

    Boiled Linseed Oil

I'm with Jacob, except with old very dry handles I apply once a day for a week; then once a week for a month, and then yearly (very approximately). It's best if you wipe off excess oil with a cloth after a couple of hours. As for gloves, I don't bother - and I'm sure my skin looks younger...

    3 Phase Saw Assistance

When you say all 3 phases are present, have you been able to check that, since you found this fault? The reason I ask is that I had a similar issue when one of the phases dropped out at my place. Turns out it was a blown pole fuse (I assume you have those in the UK) However, I don't have...

    Wadkin knife setting gauge

There was one listed on eBay just a couple of days ago. Have a look to see what it sells/sold for. Cheers, Vann.

Table Saw w/ability to take a dado stack.

A Wadkin PK dimension saw will take trenching heads - however the trenching heads and adaptor are as rare as hens teeth. And it's three phase, so no good to you. Cheers, Vann.
