    Small clock inerts ???

Hello Leo....... I have made heaps of clocks (with inserts) over the years and most of the inserts I have bought off The Wooden Teddybear. Prices are pretty reasonable. Standard 50mm ones are around $8.00 US. (plus postage, of course, but I found that pretty reasonable too)...

    Hegner

I am in Australia and my saw is called a Trupro - but it is exactly the same as your AWFS 18. I have had it now for about 5 years and apart from 2 tiny problems has not let me down at all. I do a LOT of work with it, most of it fretwork so it is mostly inside cutting. I put the Hegner quick...

    Tensioning scrollsaw blades!

The type and size of the blade depends on a number of factors. Blades are numbered by size - #2/0 being basically the smallest and it goes up to (I think) #12. A rule of thumb supposedly says that there should be at least 3 teeth in the workpiece at one time. It also depends on how intricate the...

    advice please

Hello........I am in Australia so can't give a lot of advice about saws but I do have a Trupro saw which is the same, I believe, as your Axminster FS18" - the so called Hegner clone. I have had it now for about 4 years and regard myself as a heavy user. The only problem with it was 2 small...

    Scroll Saw Blades

First of all there are pinned and plain blades - what does your saw take? Then, the type and size of the blades you need will depend on the work. The more intricate the work, the smaller the blade you will need. The bigger the blade the less sharp they will turn. The brand of blade is a personal...

    miniature long case clock

Great work Puzzler. I made a similar one a while back but it isn't as ornate as yours, or as well finished I don't think. Well done!! Noel

    another project

For anything intricate I use Olson skip tooth reverse blades. If the timber is less than 6mm, the 2/0 ones. For work that is not so intricate I would use #2. As an example, the project above I wold have used #2. I find the Olsons turn a lot better than the others and are less aggresive. For more...

What do you guys do ?

I'm more into the fretwork type of projects, like boxes, small tables etc. I once made a totally wooden clock that gave a lot of enjoyment as well as a LOT of frustration!! lol. I have it adjusted now so that it's accurate to within a minute or so a day. This is a pic. I think one of the most...

    Fixing patterns

I use a spray on temp adhesive and then use mineral spirits (also known as white spirits) to remove it. I also use self adhesive photo paper a lot - starnge as it may sound, if you keep look out it is not as expensive as it sounds. Noel

    another project

I thought I would post another photo. Made this a little while back and it's a 3D plaque made from marine ply. I stained some pieces, and others I left natural. Noel

    Recent project

I HAVE A Trupro saw. But that's here - in the UK I think they are sold as an Axminster?? (attached a pic). I have used a few saws over the years, but it's by far the best, in all respects. The timber is silkwood (I think a type of maple, but don't quote me on that). Because the timber is only...
