    Startrite 18-s-5. 3 phase dilemma

This is on a 14-s-5 that I've just brought home. Does all the advice given above apply to this one? I'm getting an electrician to look at but I'd like to have some understanding of the options too. Hope the pictures come out, thanks.

Old tools salvaged from my Grandparent's houses

I'd be interested in the axes/hatchets, hedge laying season is just around the corner. Also close to Llandow, closer than Pontyclun.😉

    Best handle wood?

I thought this might make a good handle by the way it didn't want to break. Anyone hazard a guess as to what species it is please?

Myford ML8 and general turning questions.

The play in the tail stock mounting is not really that important when you just mount and make something. It can be a PITA when you want to remove/remount an item and a perfect realignment is required.

Does Builder need permission to connect new house to sewer on my land?

I can’t help thinking that the builder/contractor knows more about what’s going on than the OP. Surely they’re not waiting at the other side of the fence ready to run a pipe in when no one’s looking. I’ve a feeling they know what’s possible and the OP is going to be powerless to stop it. If...

    Lawnmower engine oil change

Draining through the filler hole is often the easiest way, especially if the carb is on the high side.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I support this idea, as used by a mason I knew who was building walls a hundred years ago. Perhaps it depends on what stone you have to work with but with the irregular limestone we have around here you pick up a stone and you find a place for it. Otherwise you end up with a pile of rubbish on the...

    Spares for Dowelling Jig?

I think I've got some duplicate imperial bush sets, will have a look. On the subject of rods - they are the same diameter as the rods on the the 044 plane. . . .

    Bringin back the shine

I should have said I was removing heavy rust and electrolysis worked very well. Whether it will work the same on your plane I don't know, but it surely won't do any harm.

    Bringin back the shine

I've been there got the t-shirt with vinegar, it does the job but leaves the metal with a patina that's not nice. I used electrolysis for the first time a few days ago, much much better than vinegar. I used an old phone charger and about a teaspoonful of bicarbonate of soda in 1.75 litres of...
