I don't think so as the ryoba I was using was almost brand new. That said could have been a manufacturing fault, but more likely my technique! Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2

I've not got much of an idea about woodworking, and even less about finishing! So, what would a good finish (if any) be for an ash shelf (see http://thickastwoshortplanks.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/floating-ash-shelf-project.html? I've read that danish oil will give it a 'orrible yellow colour...

I have an (old?) Emir workbench I picked up from a college clearout . As you can imagine is been pretty knocked about with panel pins, nails, glue and who knows what else attached to the worktop, but it is sounder than anything I was going to build at my novice stage! Pics here...
