i've got an elektra beckum/ metabo planer thicknesser combi. wish i'd never bought it, the thickness table rocks the fence never stays square the blades are a pain in the rear to change, if you move the infeed table to adjust the amount being planed it twists hmmmmmmm no good do not buy one...

i have a problem. my workshed is relativley damp, although being insulated & double glazed. its not possible to use a dehumidifier or heater all the time as i don't spend enough time in there (another problem). i'm considering making a largish box 8x2x2? and using it as a slow drying wood store...

i bought a sheppach morticer ££££££££££ rubbish. should have bought a decent set of mortice chisels instead.

iv'e recently started playing around with ammonia, the best place i've found to purchase it from are a wood finishing company called morrells, they are nationwide. it cost me about £9 for 5 litres 25 -35 %. other places i sourced were asking 20-30 squid.

Does anybody know if oak is as prone to end checking as ash? the reason being is that i've made a prototype end table in ash for my folks conservatory. its' has spl'it. Doh. (homer)
