Fun little project, help needed !

no, it's painted on. i thinned the first coats with white spirit and hoped for the best ! it's actually "fond dur", which i translate as varnish, but it's not just that ! I was half tempted to use shellac and try a french polish, but i'd like to keep the radio outside, by the terrace (and oven)...

Fun little project, help needed !

quite some progress over the last few weeks: i sanded down the cabinet, and routed the side openings, into wavy shapes: followed by a few thin coats of varnish: and fitting most of the new electornics.it's a simple stereo amp, 35W, based on twp TDA2050 chips. it has a 80W power supply...

Fun little project, help needed !

Progress tonight: I cut a piece of strong ply and glue it on the inside of the cabinet, underneath the top, which i then braced and clamped to ge tit straight. Before bracing, you could see the daylight between the top and the true flat surface of the aluminium. afterwards, the top is truly...

Fun little project, help needed !

:D I can understand your point of view, but as a practicing electronics engineer (and in RF, as it is), i can assure you that apart from the cabinet, there is nothing to salvage here. It's just pile of burned lamps and capacitors and inductors badly put together. highly inefficient, and not...

Evening people ! I have just undertook a small project, involving the modernising of this thing: After refurbishing the cabinet, i intend to replace all the old electronics with a modern solid state amp(class AB, 35W), power supply, wifi, MP3 and possibly bluetooth smart phone connection. I...

My Pizza oven, and its roof

The frame is up, almost complete. The concrete around the posts brackets has now set, so the support has been removed (the horizontal bits on which the structure was resting) this weekend, i'll try to plank the rook, if the weather improves a bit ! i'll also give it a coat of protector.

    Beginner - dovetails

Thats not a bad start... use a piece of wood for support if you try and plane the end. otherwise, you will destroy the corners.

My Pizza oven, and its roof

well... of course, the inside of the house is (nearly) finished ! but, you know.. stomach first, you cant live without a pizza oven ! and yes, the trestles are for the roof. i started cutting tenons and various bits, but i havent received all the douglas yet. It should arrive next week !

    Bavarian style framing trestles

It's an optical effect, because the top falls exactely on the bottom of the legs. not so obvious on the last picture, but better on the previous one. the length of the top is exactely the length of the footprint. shorter, and you'd risk tripping on the legs, and longer, and you'd risk what you...

Green oak frame for wood fired oven. WIP

42, that's slightly bigger than mine. a very good size for 4 to 5 pizzas in one go. so that's like over a 200 pph oven. (pizzas per hour) mine is only a 150pph. regarding insulation under the floor, yes, it's is a must. i have 50mm, on top of a 50mm brick floor, and all this resting on 100mm of...

My Pizza oven, and its roof

yes, you are right... you cant go back, and you pizzas do take 3h to get ready (the time to get the oven to 250C) The pizza board is 18mm thick. perfect thickness. you prepare your pizza on the wooden board (beach) and you slide it off in the oven. you then use a smaller, stainless steel one...

    Bavarian style framing trestles

Hi, Well, no particular reason for the I beam, just maybe because it is VERY strong ! it is also wide (10cm) so that they make narrow shelves on their own, if that makes sense. they are also heavy, which is good. if you put a heavy beam on a normal trestle, it can "roll" if you push on the...

plans came from reading on the subject, and finding out waht made a decent oven. It's not that complicated, but it does require some thinking.
