I have just acquired a Myford PR11 planer - an interesting machine that I would like to fettle.
I have e-mailed Myfords but apparently - the "old" Myfords did not include any PR11 manuals/parts lists etc when they were taken over a couple of years back by the present Myfords.

I agree with Mick .. 12mm Birch ply and finger joints.
Also you will need to plan where the ventilation holes/slots will be placed, such that you achieve a good flow in (cool) and out (warm). To help with this you will need to carefully plan the location of the "hot" bits - e.g. power supply...

I believe CD and DVD players usually have a pin hole (close to the eject button) through which you can poke a suitable poker to encourage the drive to eject ... HTH
