    One for the motor experts

Thanks all :) Pretty much what I thought. My planer is now working with the new armature and brushes. I bought it faulty so have fully stripped it, cleaned, lubricated as part of the repair. A Triton TPT 125 almost like new, including the purchase of the planer and all part for £156 :)

    One for the motor experts

Hi all, I have just rebuilt a faulty Triton TPT 125 Planer. It's symptoms were sparking from the armature at the commutator end, this was present when not under load. I replaced the brushes to no avail so then did a complete strip down. From what information I can find many have failed with...

Quick release (1/4 turn) fasteners for ply panel?

Have you tried rare earth magnets? Cheap and many different types. Strip of thin metal on one side, magnet on the other

    Triton TPT125 Planer sparking

So, I have pulled it apart and it looks mostly great. Bit of lubrication here and there. Any suggestions on where to buy parts from for the Triton? I have the official parts supplier listing the armature at £90 ish posted, any 3rd parties you would recommend. Have seen armatures listed at...

    Triton TPT125 Planer sparking

To be honest I bought it at a price I was happy with even if it needed a motor. I took a punt as they say. It looks very well looked after, blades are good etc. No knocks or dings etc. The infeed and outfeed tables show very little sign of wear. The brushes and a brush cap (one was broken)...

    Triton TPT125 Planer sparking

Hi All, I picked up a faulty Triton TPT125 (MK2) earlier and have just had an initial look. When the planer is powered on they are sparks visible within the motor housing and the motor seems to be hunting although i haven't run it for more than a few seconds. My first port of call were the...

    Plywood Thickness Tolerance

Recently bought 12 sheets of "12mm" and that came out mostly at 11.2mm. Few sheets of 18mm that came out at 17.1mm. Seems to be the norm these days, i seem to recall hearing that a lot of manufacturers were doing this to save cost. The 17.1mm ply nearly burnt me on a project as i was...

3d print query - bonded print faces

Probably not grouped. I change the colour of one of the parts to yellow or a different colour. The contrast makes it much easier to see the gap or lack of it. I also turn the grid spacing off or right down to 0.1mm.

    Questionable circular saw adaptation

Have you seen the size of the largest Circular Saw that Mafell do? Its massive :)

    Question for the electricians

Definitely option 1 with the outer sheath of the T&E clamped. It may look like they are not fully clamping, normally the clamp is slightly tapered so will be tighter at the front. Whoever told you it's wrong is wrong :) Jon.

Why is this dangerous kit being advertised on here?

As a new table saw user (had used one under supervision many years ago) I am very conscious of what could happen, kickback, positioning yourself correctly and saw the advert for this (Not on here admittedly) and thought it was a great idea. I thin thought about it and it's usage, pretty much...

    Cheap Festool

Hi, It may be the old model but has the newer batteries (Larger capacity) I have 2 of these and they are really good. When i first got mine i put it side to side against an 18V DeWalt XRP drill\driver and put 100 screws into MDF. The little Festool kept up and some. The weight difference is...

Thanks all! Looks like Fusion wins out. I will try that again.

    Free CAD Software

Hi All, What software are you using for the design of items to print\machine? I have mostly been using TinkerCAD and looking into Fusion 360 but they seem to limit some of the CAM functionality. I'm mostly happy with Tinkercad; however I have just designed a stop block and flag for 2040...
