I remember using wheeled escapes for a year or two until they all disappeared from service. I believe London were the last to have them on the run.
Brilliant ladders but hardly well suited to streets full of parked cars!
There's nothing that works as well in terms of stability and strength...
I've got a couple of those somewhere in my little-used tool boxes.
I will have to go and find them now, won't I?
I reckon they will be covered in oily, dusty sort of stuff, though.
Time for a clean up, then!

OK, the bloke is just one silly person among very many.
What I find disturbing is a legal system that can come up with that kind of decision and follow it with a stupendously ill-considered award!

A door closer should never slam the door. Unfortunately this is almost always what Perko closers do. This is why I would never accept them unless pushed.
