    thats pretty generous, mandrels sell for around £25-30 and the other stuff is probably worth up to £20. If it was 1MT I would have been interested.

    Might as well be a million miles, Dunnet Head is on the edge of the world :D I think there may be a mens shed organisation near to Elgin, im in Inverness and there is one here. If you can get to a local craft fair, there is always someone there who is selling turned stuff.

    Im just new to turning, I guess its easier, less scary than turning an odd shape? all the blanks you see for sale are circular.

    I was thinking that I will rough chainsaw logs down to size to fit throught he bandsaw, then just use the bandsaw to cut it to a circular blank. I never visualised putting a log through the bandsaw. A bandsaw with 8 inch cut is going to be way over budget.
