    Cutting large thread on small lathe?

    screw cut your thread to the nearest pitch nearest the correct pitch to a depth of 1 mm, this will allow the tap to bite. cut as much as you can in the lathe, this will keep it square, but i suspect you will have to finish it on the bench. use parrafin as a lubricant, white spirits works, cold...

    Help ID metal bar tool - Blacksmith's ?

    Sorry if this is too late a reply. My dad thinks its a blacksmiths 'punch' used for putting holes in hot metal. There could be another part to this tool , spring tongs for the apprentice to hold the punch in place.
