How are you storing your tools?

High shelves and/or cabinets are not going to affect your useable space, I would be keen to do that. As long as you mount them to the battens it should be ok, alternatively take the plasterboard off and add some decent timbers behind it for you to secure the cabinets/shelves to.

    Dust port sizes

Of course, you can add all of this to your hose, however, you have to bear in mind that with every extra cm of hose lengthyou reduce the effectiveness of the system, and more-so with any hose diameter changes, you also reduce the effectiveness of the system quite significantly in some cases...

Jig to cut veneers on a bandsaw.

It would be good like you say to see some videos of it in action cutting some larger veneer slices.

Cutting veneers on a band saw.

If you read through the other thread (third point made here https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/jig-to-cut-veneers-on-a-bandsaw.146999/post-1727190) I think it is evident where the confusion lies. As I understand it now they were originally trying to make their cuts with the desired veneer...

Jig to cut veneers on a bandsaw.

I totally see why it might seem snarky and perhaps it could have been worded more carefully, but if you look through the previous posts and threads about this there has been a complete reluctance until this latest post to acknowledge that the existing way people already cut veneers does actually...

Jig to cut veneers on a bandsaw.

This is just not true, the purpose of the fence is to provide the reference surface to give you your final dimension of the wanted piece. So it is the case that the offcut lies outside the blade, and not between the blade and the fence. This is why extension tables exist and are often not as...

    Router and Router Table advice

If I were in your situation I would purchase a second hand table off of facebook marketplace/ebay etc. You arent going to understand what you want from a router table until you have used one for a little while, so if you buy a cheap used one to have a go, you will then learn how to use it and...

    House name on a post…

Yes I would do as you have said. I would make the mortise a tight fit as far as it's width is concerned, but for the height you would allow maybe 10mm at either end (which is probably seriously overkill) to allow for expansion and contraction. So you might make the mortise 110mm long but the...

    House name on a post…

Green oak will be cheapest but will shrink and move more than the others. If they are going for a rustic look then it would be appropriate. Air dried will be closer to the normal 'outdoors' moisture levels maybe 14% as it has been left to dry outdoors. Regardless it will still move with the...

    Dust port sizes

Like you, I cannot be dealing with 100 different sizes of dust port. I convert all my tools to two sizes, I have a small (I think it's 38mm OD), and a large (100mm). i.e tracksaw, router, sanders, chop saw. Any machine that is in the 20-50mm size I permanently leave on an adapter which fits my...

Jig to cut veneers on a bandsaw.

It looks great and I like the dials to determine the spacing. What is the advantage that you see from cutting on the side away from the fence rather than setting the desired thickness as the gap between the blade and the fence, then cutting the desired piece on the fence side like you usually...

    Sealing paint

I really like using the rustins stuff. The satin and the gloss you can get in screwfix but they don't do the matt. Amazon do though: https://www.amazon.co.uk/RUSTINS-Quick-Varnish-Clear-Matt/dp/B003UGRLBW

    Nozzle for HVLP

Hi, Thanks for your reply! Black knob? I dont think I have that on my one, I have attached a photo of the thing assembled. Fundamentally it does look the same as yours, but if you look at the shape of the nozzle it appears different. I wonder whether the ones you are talking about...
