    Trend Diamond Cross Sharpening Plates

Paul Sellers has several videos about diamond plates on his YouTube channel - some good practical views on the merits of different plates.

Are my chisel sides skewing my bevel?

almost certainly not sitting flat in the honing guide, or perhaps the top o thi chisel is not wholly parallel to the bottom - regardless, its not a problem as long as its sharp, and the edge is as near perpendicular to the length as you can get it - if it works, it works :D

    Low Vibration Random Orbit

The Mirka tools are just fantastic - I stuck with Festool, because the power cables are interchangeable (lazy, I know) - I prefer the ETC for fine finishing, but the ROTEX is great if you need something that can do both direct and passive orbital (and can work well as a polisher if you need...

Bandsaw finally gave up - quick request for views..

So, the 'family' saw finally gave up after only 65 years and 3 generations - piece of rubbish! Apparently willpower and welding just isn't enough to keep it going.. So, I've been surfing the interwebs, and there's so many contending views, so I thought I'd ask here. I need a saw that has a...

    Silverline 900mm F-clamps £8.80 at Birco

buy lots and toss them when they break (it's 'when' not 'if') - still, you can go through a lot of these for the cost of one Bessey - horses for courses and all that :D That said, I do have a load of silverline sash clamps - all of which have stood the test of time - Paul Sellers has a good...

    Identity of this?

It's an "Arcoy Rabbeter" - designed for use with a drill - pretty awful by modern standards, but might be of interest to an avid collector

How much to sell a AWEPT106 (PT260) planer thicknesser

The older "perform" branded machines (black and yellow) go for £350-£400 - they are pretty much identical to this ( and a fair few other machines from metabo, RP etc!) - you may get a little more if it's in squeaky condition.

Sweet job man - thanks for sharing.

Planer thicknesser, tear out not break out?

looks like your knives may not be quite sharp enough for that wood - it looks like a softwood, so the blades are pulling the grain down at the cut, rather than slicing it cleanly You can see it clearly where the cut finishes - the wood is being split off, not cut off. You could feed it a...

Small workshop compressor for light use - views?

Hi folks, I'm looking to get a small compressor for light use - I did have a monster that I inherited, but it's scrap now :D I need something quiet-ish (not silent, but somewhat silenced), and oil-free. Will be used for light brad nailing, the odd squirt to clean away dust and occasional bike...

    AC216TS or DWE7491?

My mate has the Axminster 216, and I recently sold my DW and replaced it with something else German and green.... The Ax has an induction motor (quieter) - the DW is blooming loud....you still need ear protection with either, so this is just about how much you want to upset the...

    Record Power BS350

That will run fine on a standard 3-pin socket. Price is great if in workable condition. The microswitch is probably full of rubbish, so worth cleaning it out and see if it works. If not, you can get replacements from RS for a couple of quid, or a Record Power dealer for considerably more :D They...

    Plane Dilemma

I happily work with a Record 4 on pieces down to 4-5" - it's light enough to handle easily, big enough for my hands and I can resharpen in a few minutes :D If I need to go smaller, I tend to use a block plane. No3's are handy , but good ones get expensive, old or new.

    Boards bending after planing

I usually dimension roughly, taking equal cuts from each side, then come back to it the next day and do final dimensioning then straight into joinery - Generally works, but some boards just won't play (and it's my fault for buying them in the first place!!)- they joy of woodworking :D
