    problems with intelligent workshop tools

Thank you all for your replies and detective work. Last night I informed my credit card company and am waiting to hear back from them. I think I will have to fill out a form and no doubt it will become a lengthy process. I'm also waiting to hear from Festool. I'm not sure it's their problem...

    problems with intelligent workshop tools

This post is both an enquiry and a warning. On October 13th I placed an order with intelligent workshop for a number of items including glues, bottles tape measures as well as a Festool rts 400 sander and delta pad for the Ro90.. A week later some of the the small stuff arrived, and that's it...

    which sander?

If you are still considering a ceros then you might wait a few days more (may 1st) for the deros by mirka. Same sort of thing, slightly bigger and heavier but without transformer. Comes with 125 and 150 mm bases. Still wont get you into corners but great in every other way. I'll be getting one...

Edward Slater, a new designer maker (to me anyway!)

I dont like any of his work but think he is probably a genius. Also working away in such a small space, hacking away with handsaw etc and producing the results he does is very impressive.

    Rail systems

I have the mafell mt55 and the small kss300 with the flexi rail. The latter is a very clever bit of kit, maximising depth of cut due to being so thin, as well as being transported together with the saw in its systainer. However it struggles when placed over shorter material and when used in the...

    which sander?

I've just searched for mirka deros and found a video of the new machine on youtube, its the new ROS without transformer. A bit bigger and heavier than the ceros. There is also a 77mm ceros, but neither available here as far as I can see. I would love a chance to try ceros and deros side by...

    which sander?

Its odd. I've just looked at all the usual suspects and all have the transformer. Yet at axminster in High Wycombe I used one without. The rep expained that many potential users were put off by it and so they developed one without. Maybe there was something built into the extractor but I don't...

    which sander?

Thats a godpoint about the system approach. I'll bear it in mind. These days the ceros is also available without the transformer. That side of things is taken on in the 'handle' and now weighs marginally more than it did. I've no idea how that is possible or why the transformer was needed...

    which sander?

Two of my sanders have recently expired. A 125mm triton ros and a dewalt palm sander, leaving me with my 150 mm metabo ros and an old mutimaster. Probably only 10% of my work involves sanding timber. The rest is painted surfaces and filler including the usual suspects such as, walls,skirtings...

    Built in wardrobes tutorials!

Good point about blockboard , although the gear I used seemed to be made of quite long pieces (I only used if for shelves) even with staves the joints would be staggered and it was much stiffer than MDF. On the domino spacings I dont think I was very clear, I had in mind the spacing of mortices...

    Built in wardrobes tutorials!

Hi Pete, At present I cut a thin strip of infill (not 25mm!) of sufficient width so that there will be enough material to cut into along its length. I place it over the face edge of the carcass, and using my small combi square I make sure it overhangs the carcass uniformly. To secure it while...

    Built in wardrobes tutorials!

Occasionally I prepare things at home but this is seldom possible, but otherwise its done in customers houses. Its usually accompanied by redcoration of the room, but not always. I'm like to find an accurate and dependable timber yard in East and North London to cut material, to width at leas,t...

    Built in wardrobes tutorials!

Hi Pete, That’s great, many thanks. I’d have scratched my head all week and still not thought of it. I can see that with the widest gap between the wall and 6mm section of infill needs to be less than the thickness of the carcass material. I’ve only made a seven or eight shelving alcove units...
