Are pop rivet nozzles made to a common standard?

Hi. I went and bought a new pop rivet gun. Whose nozzles do not fit the King Klik pair I have. I'll probably chuck out the King Klik, although I did see a pair on Ebay going for £40. Which is ridiculous probably. Of the many products available, I went for PRESCH (10105). German engineered. Rich

Are pop rivet nozzles made to a common standard?

The problem is with the mandrel I think. My new bought 4mm rivets have mandrel of 2.18mm. Which is probably too undersized for my imperial riveter.

Are pop rivet nozzles made to a common standard?

Oh, I've just discovered that my King Klik riveter is not working, it won't grip even after making alterations to the adjuster piece. So, I'll just buy a new pop riveter, it's not important anymore to know if nozzles are standardized. EDIT: Actually, it could be that the rivet I am using...

Are pop rivet nozzles made to a common standard?

Hi. I have a vintage King Klik pop riveter model T40. Very well made. But I'm missing a nozzle because it was lent to uncle Normam and it did not come back with all the nozzles. I want to go ahead and replace all the nozzles I do have. So, can I buy any make of spare pop rivet nozzle? Thanks. Rich

Drilling through the axial centre of a one meter length of wood

Hi. I'm a complete newbie. I'm wanting to be able to drill through the axial centre of a one meter length of round dowel/wood. The drill of course would fit in the tailstock (I'd need to modify my current tailstock BTW). I'd need to be using at least a 500mm long drill. So, how is the task...

    I want to buy a chuck (3/4" x 16 tpi)

Hi. I realise that I need to buy a chuck for my newly acquired wood lathe, so I can cut off the ends of my work pieces. I'm thinking to buy a 4 jaw independent chuck (1500mm 6") by HSW as sold on Ebay for £71. Any thoughts? Thanks. Rich

I only want to turn wood into dowel, otherwise round bars

I'm turning my very first ever piece. I'm using the roughing gouge to make a blank from a more-or-less square piece. The "kickbacks" for want of a better term, have been stronger than I imagined. I think that is because there are splits in the wood I selected. It's fairly hard wood, but I can...

Hi. No I haven't. I'll need to address that.

I only want to turn wood into dowel, otherwise round bars

I've bought these tools new. I had a chance to purchase a second-hand set of Crown tools, but was not sure how sharp they might be. That coloured my decision.

I only want to turn wood into dowel, otherwise round bars

OK, I bit the bullet and ordered: * CROWN SPINDLE GOUGE 10mm * CROWN PARTING TOOL 6mm * CROWN ROUGHING GOUGE 30MM / 19MM * CROWN SKEW CHISEL 3/4 19 MM That should do me for now. I think this thread is more-or-less finished. Thanks for assistance given. Rich

I only want to turn wood into dowel, otherwise round bars

Given what's been said, can anyone please recommend a "starter" set of cutting tools that you would consider a decent set? I'm hoping to spend no more than say £120. Less if possible. Thanks. Rich EDIT: Maybe I should post this in tools section.

I only want to turn wood into dowel, otherwise round bars

Here is the wood that I'd be using. It's light salmon pink colour. Obtained from a crate holding stone. Pretty dense. Anyone know what it is and will it present any problem cutting? I will be using square pieces, not this particular piece. Thanks.

I only want to turn wood into dowel, otherwise round bars

Hi. I'll probably make stuff other than pieces of dowel/ rods, it's just that at the moment I need to make this dowel-like piece. I see on YouTube that there are dowel-making jigs. I'd make one if I was minded to make lots of dowel of specific diameters, which I may or may not do. Definitely...

I only want to turn wood into dowel, otherwise round bars

Hi. I've seen the odd beginner training video showing the usual tools used. The issue boils down to one of obtaining a certain precision in the diameter. Of course, when I see the roughing gouge used I assume (as a beginner might) it won't give me the precision I require, but I note comments...

I only want to turn wood into dowel, otherwise round bars

My first project is to make this jointing piece. Is this done entirely with the roughing tool? Or when I get near to the required diameter, do I choose another sort of tool? Because some precision is required. Thanks. Rich
