    Gas stove

Patio gas has a different fitting (clip on rather than screw on) and sell for more money because you pay for convenience I guess. The bottles are sightly different sizes too.

Spray kit recommendations ( walls and cabinets )

I stained an outdoor wood store with a cheap paraffin gun and a compressor. Messy but works well for that sort of rough work and cheap as chips. I used an outdoor spirit based stain so it was quite thin from the tin and just sprayed straight on.

    Birch ply alternative?

Shelf span is about 800mm, aiming for 200mm depth. There are current shelves in mfc that I'm replacing as they have sagged badly hence wanting to use ply or timber.

    Birch ply alternative?

Mdf is much less stiff than ply or hardwood, I don't think it will take the load.

    Birch ply alternative?

I'm planning to make a painted bookcase, I was planning to use bb/bb birch ply but with the way prices are now in considering alternatives. Any thoughts on a wood or material that is at least as stiff and takes paint well? Maybe some other grade of ply or a cheap hardwood? Beech and poplar...

    Birch ply prices

18mm bb/bb up to £168 a sheet at my local place. B/bb nowhere to be found.

Any experience of wood splinter gone into your finger? - How did you get it out?

@Ttrees I sterilise by using some neat isopropanol. It's to hand and won't ruin the temper.

My bench is bigger than yours...

It's double barrelled. Pat-tina. PT for short.

    What to do with apple?

Goblets is an interesting thought. Not sure muy branches are straight enough. Trunk is 12-14" (only just less than my chainsaw) so a bit hefty for that.

    Which turpentine for beeswax finish

I think wood turpentine is traditional. That said there doesn't seem to be much difference between them, they're both extracted from pine.

    What to do with apple?

Well now I have lots of apple. Thinking ill get a few bowl blanks out of the trunk sections at least.

    Welding tent?

Build a frame and hang some welding blankets? They're pretty cheap online.
