    Faulty Bessey DuoKlamps

I'm sure the kind folks at Axminster will sort you out if at all possible, but for future reference, have a good read of this article http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8253915.stm The sale of goods act covers you for 6 years - direct from the retailer.

    Bostitch 16 ga nailer

Hi George, Do you know what the actual model number is? Also, have you tried Machine Mart or Screwfix. It's likely to be special order, but they may be able to help. Martyn

    Dust extraction: Trend T30AF and...

There are two main issues. Firstly HPLV vacs can have trouble collecting large chips moving at speed, because a) they don't spend very long in the airstream and b) they can in extremis block the nozzle or hose. Secondly if dust doesn't pass through the volume of air about 10 x 10 x 10cm in...

    Dust extraction: Trend T30AF and...

I use a T30AF for powertools and a HA3210 for machinery. The T30 was pretty useless on the bandsaw, because it didn't keep up enough mass airflow through the case to keep the dust "on the move". The Scheppach moves so much air that anything venturing down into the bottom case gets sucked out...

    Bandsaw upgrade options?

Got the response back from Lee at Startrite and the answer was yes it's CE regs to go to +/- 20 degrees. And yes, the pin can be removed to go to 45. The trunions are rack and pinion which is nice. On the downside there's no quick tension release and the guides are Euro style. I think my...

    Bandsaw upgrade options?

I reckon you're right. That's much more like it. From the looks of the details in the photos I'd say that image is of their 502E. I'll check with startrite or D&M. Cheers Martyn

    Bandsaw upgrade options?

Hmmm, maybe. What sort of jig are you thinking of? I'm finding hard to imagine a shop made jig as stable as the rip fence and table at 45 degrees, so I'm interested to see what you mean. It does seem odd to me, not being able to tip a bandsaw table beyond 20 degrees. I mean the really big ones...

    Bandsaw upgrade options?

Yeah, the 502E looks like it'll fit the bill. The pictures are little unclear, but the guides look like the US style roller bearings. Does anyone have one of these? I believe some of the startrites use a tungsten bar as the rear guide - does the 502E? Also, does the tensioning system have a...

    Bandsaw upgrade options?

@OPJ, the Jet is a close contender, but has the Euro guides rather than the US style, which makes more sense to me on wide blades - less squealing. @John, sweet deal! We'll have to pay a touch more than that I fear, but Axy are quoting a 4 week lead time, so at least we can keep looking for...

    Bandsaw upgrade options?

I'm getting to the point of buying a new bandsaw to replace our Elektra Beckum BAS316G, which although fairly capable has a very simple fence and I've never got on with the bearing guides. I'm ideally looking for somthing with: around 30cm depth of cut side slot for blade changing "US Style"...

    Sheppach TS4020VR v's Forsa 4

I've not put an 8x4 over it yet, but the slide action is very stable. Getting the rail parallel to the blade takes a while as it uses shims between the brackets and the cabinet, but once you get there it'll stay put, even when you take the rail on and off. For handling heavy sheets without...

    Sheppach TS4020VR v's Forsa 4

Seems to me it does depend on the types of cuts you'll be doing and how much space you have. I have the TS4020vr and there's no way I could fit the Forsa into the space I have. The 4020 is a square tabled saw with the option of mounting a sliding carriage, while the Forsa is a full panel saw...

    Biscuit Jointer advice please

If you can find a Porter Cable 557 (I got mine from Top Gun, but they don't list it anymore) that has the best fence I've ever seen on these things. It'll go to 135 degrees so you can joint with reference to the acute edge of a 45degree bevel. Cracking bit of kit otherwise too, no slop in the...

Where to find Euro cabinet door slides?

Doh! Loads of them on Hafele, once you try a browser their website likes. Hafele and Hawa brands, all without pictures, but I think I'll manage to work out which is which using Google. I'd found the Woodfit one before, it is the same as the one Isaac Lord has - a bit low grade by the looks of...
