I've always assumed the company producing it changed their product name from Plusgas to wd40, like "marathon to snickers" and "bounty to plenty". I Just googled it and it seems Plusgas and wd40 are two different animals altogether. :o
Sorry if I didn’t make it clear, I meant making the stairs narrower, or adding treads and risers or cutting and taking out. Even changing the angle of the stairs but then you have to change the angle of every step. Still less hustle and cheaper than making from new. That’s what I have been doing...
I've fitted hundreds of these cheap doors, always being careful not to over thread the screws as it's only a thin sheet of mdf with nothing inside, but sometimes it does happen.
M4 screw connecting bolts & sleeves is the perfect answer. I always thought about it but I didn’t know they existed...

These are solid beech and they seem to have been made by some sort of press.
