    Best finish for table tops?

MikeG, when you say "add some oil", do you mean like Danish oil or something?

    Best finish for table tops?

I need some advice on the best finish to use for horizontal surfaces which need to be resistant to use/wear and having things placed upon them, such as the tops of tables, sideboards and so on. I'm working with pine at the moment, and while I want to be able to bring out as much of the wood...

    Best type of buffing/polishing attachment?

OK. So the car body paint buffers do the same job as buffing wax on wood?

    Best type of buffing/polishing attachment?

Applying Fiddes wax to untreated timber.

Sanding discs flying off orbital sander!

Is this in any way avoidable? Is it because the velcro/hook and loop mounting disc on the sander itself needs replacing? Can anyone recommend a model where this is less of a problem? It's driving me nuts!

    It's generally for table tops.

    Best type of buffing/polishing attachment?

Hi Can anybody recommend the best type of attachment for buffing/polishing wood after it's been waxed? I'll probably use it as a power drill attachment, or on an angle grinder. Links to Tool Station/Screwfix etc would be great, if suitable!

    ELU 1251 RAS worktable

I already have a table saw, so I'll probably be using the 1251 mostly for cross cuts. I've been using a chop saw, but it doesn't provide a reliable enough 90 degree cut, so I figured the ELU, with it's more sturdy and rigid design, would serve me better. I've actually just realised that the...

    ELU 1251 RAS worktable

Sure. It was largely the dimensions of the sections behind the fence that I needed to know, so nothing would interfere with the blade when parked.

By the way, are the steel inserts really necessary? Would it still be OK without them?

Cheers for that additional useful info, AfterMo. I was thinking of making mine from a OSB with a layer of ply on top.

    ELU 1251 RAS worktable

Yep, cheers Andy. I've already downloaded that, and you're right - it does show the original setup/configuration. However, unless I missed something, I don't think it actually states the dimensions?
