Exceptional, Toesy. Just stunning workmanship.
It looked good before but the names - and especially the choice of font/script - take it to another level.
However long it took you it was worth the effort.
Thanks, Samfire.
I sized the Oak myself using a combination of bench saw and thicknesser. I'm a carpenter by trade, so I already have several bits of equipment that I use in my real job.
Is the dog a particular breed? Maybe you could do a portrait of the dog. Or better yet, if you had a picture of him and the dog you could turn it into a portrait.
I'm not much use at converting pictures for portraits myself but I'm sure someone on here could help you, or point you in the right...
Thanks all for the extremely kind comments. It's very much appreciated.
The actual scrolling side of the project didn't really take that long (thank God for stack cutting), it was more time consuming on the preparation and putting together. Though now that i've made one I reckon that I could...
Great piece and a clever idea. Personally, I'd rather charge a fair price for something even if it doesn't sell rather than sell it cheap. It really amazes me the prices many American scrollers charge for their work on sites like Etsy. I couldn't but the materials for the prices they sell their...
Excellent work. Great detail on the miner.
B.t.w., I wouldn't recommend anyone use UR blades for portrait cutting as they have upward pointing teeth that can chip or brake off delicate areas.
The original version of this was made by Patrick Spielman from 1/8" Oak ply which was then painted with heavily watered-down acrylic paint to give colour to the apples and the tree.
Not having access to Oak ply and not being much of a painter, I decided to make mine from real wood. It consists...
If I was living in the UK and was looking to get into scrolling on a limited budget the Record badged RBI would be the saw i'd go for.
Over the past year I've seen four or five of them on E-bay UK (I like tormenting myself looking at things I can't buy) for between £150 - £200. That's ridiculous...
Keith, I had a look at the saw's user manual on Axminster's site and the method it outlines for doing internal cuts doesn't involve removing the blade clamps.
I'm not trying to contradict you or anything - you have the saw. I don't. - it would be a shame to return what seems to be an otherwise...
Do you have to remove the blade clamps completely to do internal cuts, or is it just the process of loosening and tightening that takes so long?
Either way, that sounds like a ridiculous design flaw. Especially given how their videos tout the saw's simple blade changing system.
I hope you...
