    Kitchen Refurb

I'd love to do something similar with our kitchen but just don't have the space. Fantastic job well done.

    Finally got around to it!

The "cubes" are made up of European oak and Merbau, and the grain direction is primarily in this case for perspective so as to give the 3D appearance. The only maple is the two thin accent lines on the inlay that sandwich the sapele. As for 'rules' as most on here will know wood expands...

    Finally got around to it!

I laid this floor around 12 years ago and was never quite 100% happy as it didn't look finished. After much deliberation I decided that it needed a border and after even more deliberation I opted for an inlay of maple and sapele with a single oak block border, normally I would do a two block...

    Last weeks Job

It took 3-4 days but I had to keep breaking off to help the lad clean some more blocks, (I could lay them a lot faster than he could clean them!) A day and a half for the field, second day cutting border and started to lay the border, third day finishing the border. The border goes around the...

    Container workshop

If its a former refrigeration container it will most likely be insulated, so the biggest problem of condensation should be solved. I'll be looking out for pics as I've a friend who is planning a new build on Harris in the next couple of years so this might be an idea.

Thanks No Skills Here's another one. I always forget to take photos until I've just applied the last coat. The customer has still to fit the skirting so I've asked them to send me some photo's once the rooms been finished.

    Lounge remodelling

M series that's right my mistake I meant cork strip not Decorators Caulk. Siggy On strip floors the installation of cork in an expansion gap would not be advised as the direction of expansion is all across the width of the boards. With a block floor the floor expands in all directions due to...

    Lounge remodelling

You could always look to fill the expansion gap with cork (not decorators cork) it comes in 12x22mm x0.9m lengths and is the traditional way to finish the perimeter of a block floor.

    Last weeks Job

A few weeks ago I posted looking for some Afrormosia and thanks to Kalimna on here managed to get hold of a piece. I made a step tread to tidy up how the floor finished into the porch. I also used the off cut to make a ramp strip and reducing trim for a couple of the internal doors, but forgot...

    Advice please

Sorry Can't be of help with spraying, not done any for about 20 years and it was all on Steel fabrications back then. Mainly 2 pack epoxy. I'm sure morrells will be able to sort you out.

    Lounge remodelling

Well done you've done a cracking job. Lecol 5500 is a good reliable adhesive that I've used for years. The junckers strong is as good a seal as any one component polyurethane on the market. Your right about a builders line though, I've even heard of guys using a laser line for setting out.

    Advice please

I've always used sundstrom masks and they do a range of filters to cover most applications. http://www.srsafety.com/fragor-och-svar ... -av-filter

    Alternative to afrormosia

Thanks for the replies. Kalimna I may well be in touch over the next few days. The floor is a reclaimed floor still to be laid, just waiting for confirmation of the order. Blackrod I've bookmarked that link for future reference. Thanks for all the replies.

    Alternative to afrormosia

As per title what would you recommend as a readily available alternative to afrormosia. Looking to make a stair tread that will sit adjacent to an afrormosia floor, or does anyone know a source for a piece of afrormosia approximately 1000mm x 150mm x 25-30mm in size. Thanks in advance.
