    Record Power BS400 Bandsaw Review

Although if you read Lonnie Birds book on the bandsaw he says that the European guides are fine and accurate and everyone you used them on the BS400 seemed to say how accurately they cut so based on that how much of an upgrade are they? Just saying as I have no experience of any of them. I must...

    Record Power BS400 Bandsaw Review

Hi bob, This is an old thread but I’ve been looking at getting my first and probably only, bandsaw. Checked out the bs400 at Scott & Seargent and looks to be a nice machine with good power and seems to still be the best value for money out there. But also going to see the sabre 350 next week at...

    medding pillar drill

Hi guys, I’m actually looking for a pillar drill as well but am prett clueless on them as never had one before. Going to be using it for luthier work mainly so nothing too major although might use it for furniture or all sorts of things eventually. Mainly I just need it to be really accurate...

    Record Power Sabre 350 bandsaw

Hi nick, Any update on the bandsaw? Now you’ve lived with it for a while are you still pleased with it? Anything that you are not happy with or wish you’d gone for a bigger model for some reason? Etc. I’m just looking for my first and probably only bandsaw and was agonising over the same 2...

    Insulate garage

Hi John, Richard osbourne in Wales. He used to be in Brighton but moved to centre of wales. Lovely chap. Spent a month there building a steel string acoustic. He explained it all and I did all the work. Looks fantastic and sounds a bit like a Lowden if you know your guitars. Wasn’t cheap but...

Which DMT diamond stone grits to go for?

Shapton 8000 looks good and certainly cheaper than the xxf dmt stones. I might order one thanks. Given it’s such a fine grit and you are only using it for a final few pull strokes do you find you need to level it much?

Which DMT diamond stone grits to go for?

Hi custod, yep, I have a grinder for creating the initial angle & can then use the DMT course. Ed,custod. Indeed, I did wonder wether I’d need a much higher grade for final polish but will cross that bridge when I get there. 1200 might be sufficient for my needs. If not then I could just buy a...

Which DMT diamond stone grits to go for?

Trigger pulled from buybrandtools, cheapest place I could find them. Exchange rate makes it more expensive from abroad. Many thanks.

Which DMT diamond stone grits to go for?

Thanks all, Good point rob re length of stones but I used to use scary sharp method many years ago but for me I found it took too long and having to change papers was a faff. Lot cheaper mind! Mbartlett, that’s just the info I needed, thanks. I’ll just get the 3 then. =D>

Which DMT diamond stone grits to go for?

And one other thing. Dmt say to use water/washing up liquid on the stones to aid use but some people say it that water isn’t great for the Veritas guide as it can rust? And hence some use trend laping fluid. I’d rather use the water obviously cos it’s cheap/free but don’t want to wreck the guide...

Which DMT diamond stone grits to go for?

Hi, I’ve had a jet jssg10 for quite a while. But it’s lack of build quality has reared it’s head and no longer works. For the record I’d highly suggest you avoid it. It’s a water based machine with parts that are not rust proof. Also even worse is the drive system. Spinning metal rod off motor...
