    Vibration

I think I might be checking the chuck and screw assembly with nothing in it and turned by hand. It is possible (dare I say it) that something is not quite right with the machine. Is there an adapter in the chuck and if so is it in straight? Tighten the jaws of the chuck closed and turn on the...

The travellers return! Sounds like you folks are just having too much fun  I hope there was no problems this time with finding your caravan! Well, the first bobbin is made and the lady has tried it. She wanted a little different design and that is what she got. I need to fine tune a bit...

    Lace Making Bobbins

Hello All I have been asked by a friend to make some lace making bobbins. I have found lots of photos on the net as to what they look like but I can't seem to find any actual measurements. The person that wants them is just starting and can't tell me much either. Can anyone help or point me...

A very sad message indeed. I only knew Trevor from this forum but he seemed like someone I would have liked to have met in person. My condolences to the family as well. Tom

    Dust estractor or filter?

I use a dust collector (4" hose) directly behind the piece being sanded. You can watch the ribbon of dust being sucked into the hose. I also have a 750cfm air filter up on the ceiling avove the lathes. I still get some dust flying around so I wear a resperator as well. Tom

What push sticks do you use to keep the fingers on????

Good idea John. I was lucky, no digits missing and only a few drops of blood from where the sharp plastic bits hit me. It is amazing ... I have found about a dozen pieces so far of the push stick. My shop is 28 feet long and some pieces were at the opposite end to where the saw was. Again...

What push sticks do you use to keep the fingers on????

I too am recovering from a push stick incident. I was using a plastic push stick (Came with a saw) with some hickory. The stick just touched the saw blade and exploded into many pieces. Needless to say the hickory got loose and went flying ... into me :( End result ... I still find parts of...

    pens

Hi Ed. Good question. It depends if you are in a hurry or a patient person. CA (medium or thick) seems to be the glue of choice by production types (almost instant cure with accellerant) and polyurathane has to be left over night to cure. Poly is supposed to be more flexible with weather...

    pens

Ed451 You've done it now. Life will take on a whole new meaning .... but remember, the world always has been round, not flat .... that means we are right :D I started doing some pens last Christmas for gifts. These are numbers 51 and 52 since then. These were for my wife's birthday...
