Hi all, I have an offer of a Scheppach hf3000 ci with table extension. It is single phase 4hp and £400. it is in good condition.
Could anyone tell me if this is a good machine? I realise that it is smaller and will have some limitations etc., but will it do the job do you think?
my main concern...
Thank you all for the advice.
yes, I was thinking last night that I had lost it a bit price wise!
I think I have been thinking that I must purchase something immediately when as you say, if I take my time something decent will come up at a good price.
Also, I have not even tried one of these...
Thanks to you all. Thanks Pete, back to the drawing board with a motor replacement!
Actually, I have been thinking about combination machines. Having enough space around it will be the main issue, as my garage is long but narrow and was designed I think for when cars were smaller. Worth...
I was wondering if it would be possible to fit a single phase 5hp motor to a 3 phase machine and fit a vfd for speed setting? Has anyone done this? from what i can tell the motor would be about £500
Thanks Doug & Guineafowl, I have been looking at two of these very Wadkin! They are too far to visit in person, so I think I will avoid in case the bearings are needed. Many thanks
Thanks Pete, sorry about your buddy. the hammer is above my budget, and it would take up a lot of my garage…but it does look nice!
Thanks Mike, definitely not going Holzmann! Is the hammer as good as the older Wadkin and SCM machines?
Thanks, yes I think definitely avoid any Chinese stuff then.
did enquire about 3ph today, and was a bit put off by the price for setting up etc!
There is a Hammer B3 Winner Comfort table saw and shaper combo on ebay. I have not really heard of Hammer, do they have a good name? Not sure of a...
Just wondered what you guys think of the Holzman FS 200S, link: Holzmann Fs200s 240v 4 Speed Tilting Spindle Moulder, HZMFS200S at D&M Tools
There is one on ebay for 1K nearly new With some tooling.
Is Holzman a decent brand? I know its single phase, but it looks to have reasonable specs?
Many...
Thanks woodieallen, I do like the Kity machines as they will probably suit my smaller workshop better. By table size I just meant that it seems some large heavy duty machines seem to have quite a narrow table left after the fences depth wise. Also it does appear that a lot of those on ebay do...
Thanks to you all for your advice it is much appreciated.
Thanks DBC for your time in giving such thorough advice. I did phone axminster today and unfortunately they are running no classes yet because of Covid. I think probably confidence does have something to do with it. i might have a look at...
Thanks Deema, that is good to know. Might i ask who you go to for custom made cutters? Would a decent Kity 623 or similar be enough for windows doors, skirtings etc?
Thanks spectrum, i do agree that the router is a great piece of kit, and I love using it for freehand work.
