Been watching salvage hunters again?

Elektra Beckum BAS315 Bandsaw for sale. I brought this myself as a project a couple of years ago but never got round to sorting it out and now I need the room so it has to go. The saw runs and cuts, motor seems good and smooth. It has no fence and the blade guides will need work or replacing...

As Matt has mentioned above its the BS that sells products not how there made - I'd guess at 95% of people generally don't give a dung how something is made as long as it looks and functions how they want it to. Increasing productivity by using faster production methods will help claw a bit...

In one road 5 minutes from me there is... IKEA - b&q - howdens - benchmarx (sp?) - screwfix - toolstation - tops tiles - selco I think there's also plum or electric centre, buck and Hickman and a couple of others I forget... It's like the red light district for builders.

Don't believe the hype - 1 point seems to have made a hell of a difference :D

Bosch or the metabo for a corded one - dewalt jigsaws suffer with a real poor base/foot design which spoils an otherwise good saw, rather cut stuff by hand than buy the other blue ones :shock: The festool just don't seem much cop for the money. We would all like the mafell.

I'm going to persevere with the setup that I have now - part of the reason I brought the new plates was to have a matching sharpening setup that I could really get the hang of rather than the odds and sods that I have been using (with variable results). I must admit tho I have a fallkniven...

When I 'upgraded' I went from a nasty 4 sided diamond box (my regular setup) to a 300/600/1200 ultex plate set plus leather strop and green compound. The 300 cuts nowhere near as well as my bargin trend 250 BUT I've not used it that much yet - too early to call as the trend hasn't seen much more...

If the tiles have a decent tough finish you could mitre them.

As a mere wood butcher I find little snippets of information like this quite interesting. The quality of edge from the diamond is both interesting and slightly worrying at the same time, I've moved from nasty cheap diamond to a set of 3 slightly better budget diamond plates (and green compound...
