    Solenoid Motor

It is always a pleasure when someone takes your design and makes it better. Here Frits Kaan created a wooden version of the solenoid motor: https://www.glue-it.com/gallery/elec...motor-of-wood/ and shown here with his brother Henk Kaan's version in aluminium OK, there are some hidden...

    Mini CNC machine

Yes, the bracket on the upright stiffens the thin section, braces it to the horizontal gantry rails and bolts into the base frame. Not perfect as I bent them up by hand out of a piece of 1mm thick aluminium, having made a cardboard pattern first. A fillet welding into the corner of the tab...

    Solenoid Motor

The coil is double acting, no need to reverse the polarity. However, I could have two coils and increase the stroke and power them separately, thanks for the idea. It was never meant to be a replacement, more just a fun design to play with.

    Solenoid Motor

I've been looking to make the solenoid motor powerful enough to drive a toy vehicle. I've improved the stator of the solenoid by reducing gaps and wrapping the coil in a cast iron dust/swarf and epoxy mix. I increased the size of the armature magnets and overall have a 5x increase in force...

    Solenoid Motor

Sometimes people take your design and improve it. Henk Kaan used my plans for the solenoid motor and selected different materials to produce a sharper looking model. More details of Henk's material selection and build. This little machine is a great desktop toy and easy to make over a...

    Nut Crackers

I thought I would make something different from my normal model making stuff. 1/4" thick mild steel plate 1" diameter finger and thumb grips 1/2" BSW thread - runs in a brass sleeved nut freely rotating brass hex foot machined blunt knife edge The BSW thread is superb for this type of...

    Miniature Traction Engine

The differential sits on the layshaft and this takes a bit of thinking about. Hopefully the following image helps. More details of the ratios here: Burrell Crankshaft and Layshaft Gears - glue-it.com The drive and neutral is achieved by sliding the crankshaft gear out of mesh. Lots more to...
