Finer waterstones stored in water : acceptable or not ?

My finest stone has a wooden bottom. If I stored it in water I think it would rot. I can see a problem if you store all your stones together. The sludge from the coarser stones will clog your finer stones. But I seriously doubt you've ruined them. They might just cut too agressively for awhile...

    Chisel handles for the tool-challenged

Not sure if I should admit this but  I've made file handles from tree branches. I just pick some that are about the right thickness and cut them to length. Leave them be for them to dry out. Then peel off the bark and shove the file handle in the branch.

What should my first plane be??

I love my 4 1/2 but isn't it the law that everybody starts with a #5?? While you could argue better planes exist for every job the #5 will do almost everything. Either that or an unloved #6. Once you add a 4 or 4 1/2 you might find the jump to the #6 better then the one to the #5. Plus used #6...

    Buying spree... advice/sense needed...

Speakers mean sheetstock. My interest in a saw with a sliding table is to make life easier with sheet stock.

    Veritas Chisel Plane?

It's just a jig to hold your chisel. I can't personally see using it to cut rabbets. Does it even have a nicker? [Little blade on the side ] If you want to cut rabbets look for an used Stanely. Likely cost less.

    Forum Users Hand Planes

3 4 4.5 5 6 7 8 The 3 and 7 were good deals. The 4 was just too pretty not to buy. But then so was the 5. I tend to like the big/heavier ones best. 4.5,6 and 8 Various block planes. Router plane 90 [The smaller shoulder plane] Except for one of the 6s all are at least 60 years old.

European saw makes/models versus North American?

I was going to pickup the voltage convertors here. They seem cheaper-) Plus this way I only need a plug adapter for the converter with the tool plugged into the converter. Still most of the electrical stuff I'm bringing would either be too expensive to replace or would be worthless on the used...

European saw makes/models versus North American?

Hi, I'm bringing all my hand tools. All the tools powered by the air compressor. They don't plug in so no worries. My drill press and bandsaw. Hopefully the motors can handle a step down convertor. If not both have easy to change motors. I've got a small planer. This one would be a pain to...

European saw makes/models versus North American?

Hi, I'm not married to a cabinet saw. It was more to set a guideline for the quality level I was looking at. To be honest I'd rather not ship a saw. The idea of trying to deal with parts etc doesn't appeal to me. The European saws do look well setup to handle sheet stock. Considering I see...

European saw makes/models versus North American?

Yes. It seems with similar setups the prices are fairly close. Doesn't seem to make sense to buy here and deal with all the issues. Thanks

European saw makes/models versus North American?

Thanks. Are the prices for the K3 on the Hammer website list price or what I could expect to pay?

European saw makes/models versus North American?

No I'm moving to Europe. The little info I can find on the Felder is it's outside of my price range.

European saw makes/models versus North American?

Hi, I'm supposed to be moving next year. I'm trying to figure out if it makes sense to buy a new saw here on this side of the ocean or wait until after I move. I'd rather wait OTOH it seems prices can be quite a bit higher. OTOH I'm having trouble figuring out apples to apples without any...
