    Moving 250kg lathe.

    I managed to move my (lightweight in comparison) 165kg Clarke lathe using my trolley jack and a piece of 6x3 wood underneath the legs of it's table whilst i moved it onto an new table. Not easy and a bit of a balancing act - but it worked. See pics.

    Spares direct from hegner do seem to be overpriced I got my 1987 vintage Hegner from ebay for £150 - made my own quick release and replaced the blade tightening bolt for a homemade knurled knob - no cost for these mods other than my time :) Blade release is quick and easy. I need to replace...

    Small Bandsaw

    i've been using a Burgess Bk3 (actually i've got 2 now as they can be got reasonably cheap) mainly due to space available a 2 wheel won't fit as too tall.

    Well, for anyone remotely interested based on the number of replies my last post got - lol, I removed the centre bushings they push out neatly and found they where conical shaped with around 1mm play in them I made a replacement out of brass which fitted and rotates nicely with no signs of play...

    Sorry for the age old thread resurrection just wanting some assistance on my BK3 if Andy still posts or anyone else able to comment :) My drive wheel (bottom right wheel) has a issue with the centre bush which the bolt goes through appears to be conical shaped, so the wheel wobbles and rattles...

    How are you getting on with the Hegner IPCG? - i've also recently got myself a 1992 Hegner 2S and have been trying to source suitable wood to use - got some used laminate flooring but read too many storys about it not being suitable so back to drawing board :)

    further update After having sorted out the vibration etc, i've been able to concentrate on doing some upgrades. 1. Thumbscrews for the hold down clamp was first - made from aluminium, next i did the blade quick clamp thumbscrew - made 2, one out of aluminium and one from steel. I didn't think...

    where they chrome plated as the 2nd photo looks like the plating has come off indicating poor quality connectors if so. Gary

    Painting Vices

    Hi Vono, Forgot to say that the Hammered finishes of hammerite are very good quality and close to the original colours for the Hammered Blue and Greens for the Record vices - i finished one of mine in hammered green and it looks not blingy but factory :) rgds Gary

    quick update, update, update :) Think all sorted now. found the motor mount screws where a bit loose so tightened them up and checked the frame mount screws - they where ok. turned on, all quiet on the western front now - little bit of vibration as was still screwed to bench but only with one...
