    Honeymoon Joint

Perhaps it only lasts for a couple of weeks then starts to fall apart. LOL Maybe a pegged (draw bored) bridle joint that is pulled tight plus no man would necessarily be able to pull it asunder. Or possibly the opposite that you could part it by simply removing the peg.

Here is some footage of the Vulcan that I managed to get at the Eastbourne show this year. You shouldn't need to have a Facebook account to see it. https://www.facebook.com/nigel.anscombe ... 5059227683

    A Terrible Waste

Do the benches actually belong to the school or do they belong to the local education authority? Maybe they simply can't sell them.

    Step drills or taper drills?

If you're talking stepped drills how about gluing a Miller Dowel into the end of one piece? But would there be enough material to make it strong enough. http://www.axminster.co.uk/miller-dowel However, you might be able to use the drill to make a stepped hole in one piece and the lathe to turn...

    maths expert required

You could make a small plinth to stand the cabinet on. A 40mm, or whatever size is appropriate, high box with the sides scribed to match the floor. That way you wouldn't need to "customise" your cabinet at all.

    sealing vase to hold water

What do they make the likes of fibreglass pond liners and boats out of? Could that sort of resin be used to coat the inside. Maybe just make a fibreglass tube to go inside to hold the water.

Where to find aluminium profile for rip fence?

If the potential movement of plywood is a problem would a length of something like Contiboard (plastic coated particle board) be more stable?

    Water Butt tap fixing

I guess that if you were linking water butts together you could try replacing any (leaky) taps with tank connectors and treat the task as a plumbing job and use pvc plumbing pipe, connectors and taps instead. At one end of any pipe you could fit a hose type tap fitting with a jubilee clip, or a...

    Water Butt tap fixing

Off the wall suggestions coming up ... 1) I would think about mounting a water butt tap onto separate plate, plastic or aluminium, using the nut provided. Make a hole in the butt large enough to accept the back of the tap. Affix plate to the butt using self tapping screws, putting a seal of...
