Replacement pillar drill column and base?

Closure for those who made suggestions - I tried a column from a Startrite Mercury from the classifieds here, but it turned out to be a hollow tube which didn't fill me with confidence, and about 300mm too short, so that was swiftly moved on. I have just picked up (at great expense:() a stripped...

If by some miracle this isn't already snapped up, please could I go on the list?! Thanks!

For Sale Startrite Mercury 2 spares

I bought the pillar and base, and they are in lovely condition. However I'm not sure they are going to do what I needed unfortunately, so possibly still available if anyone else is interested.

Replacement pillar drill column and base?

It's fairly rare, I admit, but the throat on the table when using a long drill bit is only about 300mm or less, so for such a big machine it's not that versatile. I have a bench-top drill which has more clearance (but doesn't have the very useful low-speed back gear. 12rpm!). If it would be an...

Replacement pillar drill column and base?

Yes that is an option I suppose. Or perhaps a means of lowering the head down the column... Cheers,

Replacement pillar drill column and base?

I have a lovely old Elliott Progress 2GS, which has a large floor base, a cast iron pillar about 800mm tall, and then a 2.75" column which mounts into a socket on top of that. This limits how low the table can be moved, so I'd like to swap to a full ~1.8m column which would go straight into a...

Not just another table saw thread

I've had good service from my Charnwood W619 - it's an 8" blade so limited cut depth, but otherwise fairly well featured - cast top, T-slots, sliding carriage etc. It's a very small footprint, and quite short when removed from the plinth. Mine happens to be for sale as well as I've just upgraded...

    Charnwood W629 - disassembly?

I've just won one of these saws on Ebay to replace my W19. Planning collection - does anyone know if the bottom stand can be easily unbolted? i.e. is the motor and drive etc all contained in the top unit, or does it protrude down into the lower cabinet? Cheers!

Modifying cast iron table saw top

Hmm, not sure if I fancy doing it with a router really! I need to ask around some local machining shops to get an idea of cost. Cheers,

Modifying cast iron table saw top

So I can use the same mitre slot tools, fences and sleds on the table saw and the rest of the workbench, rather than having one set for the 15mm slots and another for the 19mm slots.

    T Track Router Bit

I have mounted T tracks by using a track saw to cut the sides of the slot to very-slightly-deeper than required, then using the router to take out the material between. I find the track saw gives a better cut than the router, but I don't see why you couldn't cut out the slot one side at a time...

Modifying cast iron table saw top

Apologies if this isn't the correct sub-forum. I am contemplating incorporating my Charnwood W619 table saw into a larger workbench, and would like to extend the mitre slots of the table into T tracks in the workbench. The saw has 15x7 slots, with a 19mm wide T section. I've not been able to...

    Table saw mitre slot / T slot dimensions - 15x19 or 19x9.5?

Good tip, I'd missed that one somehow. Thanks!
