    That makes sense. 👍

Clay on top of 100mm waste pipe OK?

cool, thanks all. The regs seem a bit over the top to me, I can understand the 100mm below around and on top, but I don't understand the 300mm on top. I am going to have excess soil if I put in 200-300mm of shingle. Not sure how I'm going to get rid of that....

Clay on top of 100mm waste pipe OK?

I was reading Part H last night and one part got me thinking, see screenshot. Most of the soil that I extracted from the ground was clay - does this mean that I cannot backfill it again with clay based on what the regs say about 100mm maximum clay lump size? It seems it's OK to do that from...

Trench for water, electricty and waste

Ah, inspection chamber, that is the terminology I was missing! Yes I read part H last night and I your comment confirms what I took from those. I have enough drop to use existing IC I think. Plumber thinks so too. And yes it's 1 in 40.

Trench for water, electricty and waste

some excellent points there thanks! It is part H for drainage and waste, I am reading it now plumber is sorting the SVP valve for isolation valve, could I not just have something inside the building, like a little valve that sits in line with the pipe?

Trench for water, electricty and waste

nope didn't consider that option - is it reliable I wonder, and at what speeds. I will have 150mbit fibre to house so would hope to keep most of that speed in the garden room

Trench for water, electricty and waste

yes I have an electrician to do all that stuff, I have no clue.

Trench for water, electricty and waste

this is a good worst case scenario, but I would prefer to keep them closer together as my trench is only 500mm wide.

Trench for water, electricty and waste

I'm not so sure about that - all the searches I did returned advice about under pavement services, not gardens, and also none of them talked about combining waste with other services. Maybe its my searching that is off.

Trench for water, electricty and waste

I admit I dont know what a rodding point is, but presumably it is someplace to access the drain to unblock it? I have a drain / manhole cover in the garden so I'm guessing that will do? interesting you say about using screened comms cable and combining with electricty in same conduit - that is...

Trench for water, electricty and waste

just CAT5 I think - not sure on cost of fibre (I am getting fibre to house in May) didn't know there was external spec cable, thanks

    9m x 3.7m Workshop + Office - Header Design

thanks Junco, it seems that building control are comfortable with the stud walls being timber as long as I have cement board on either side of it and use fire rated class 0 treatment on the cladding.
