    Strange happening

They are incedibly fast, our garden is about 80m across ad he/she can be through it in the blink of an eye. Until you see them in action close up you can't believe it is possible for a bird.

    Strange happening

I would guess at a sparrowhawk going after prey based on your description. We get them in our garden. They fly through at a gozillion miles per hour and the description sounds about like what we see.

    Remote control for extractors

I also have been using the denwils for about 18 months with no issues on an axmister 750 extractor. Couple of points to consider: 1. It is limited to five remotes, if youtry to pair a sixth it bumps the first one off. 2. I also fitted a timer socket before the extractor. So when I use the...

    Wood floors and draughts?

Had a similar issue with the skirting edges, when I was replacing the skirting I first stuffed rockwool into the gap all around the edges, easy to do with a ruler to push it down and plugged the gaps really well.

    Piano Desk

I built an oak keyboard cabinet a few years back so have some experience. The gotchas I can see are both the already mentioned height issue as you need the keyboard at the right height and anything that pulls out from under a desk is likely to be far too low. Secondly, and possibly more of an...

New Electric to Garage Workshop Quote

I had my workshop connected up about a year ago. Not a million miles way from what you are being quoted for. I had already run the armoured in and had fitted all of the sockets, lights etc. myself. The sparks had to supply and lay a 13mm (??) cable from the house consumer unit, through the...

    First ever turning!

What you seem to have made is a very nice, and very useful, garden dibber. And do not let anyone tell you that that is not exactly what you originally planned to make. In fact you have improved the design as yours can be turned around and used for small garden bulbs as well.

How best to straighten a bent spool pin?

Does it have to be a metal replacement? Some machines use plastic pins, especially as a second spool holder, there isn't a lot of pressure on the spool holder in use. Maybe use a plastic replacement. Obviously if they want a like for like or asthetically exact replacement that won't work.

    New House, New Workshop Build.

Fair enough, you pay them to be the experts. Have you stayed around Chester? I moved up from Devon about 6 years ago now, over near Delamere.

    New House, New Workshop Build.

I may have something missing here but I thought permitted development was restricted to 30 sq m maximum.

    Power tools

I have a load of the ryobi one plus kit. The single battery and chargers is obviously a great plus point. But I like them because of the extensive range of tools including garden and outdoor stuff life hedge trimmers, jet washers etc. Not had much of a problem with them so would recommend...

Remote control socket for twin motor camvac

I have an Axminster NVD750 which I think is the same as the dual camvac. I also use the Denwils socket that @Doug71 linked to. I have 5 of the lightswitch type sockets around the workshop to control it, 5 seems to be the limit as trying to pair a sixth knocks one of the other 5 off. Overall...

    Alcove cabinets

That does look very good. I am looking at an almost identical project at home right now even down to the power sockets, but with some shelves above. Why did you say that you would use MRMDF instead if you don't mind me asking, was it just how it would take the paint?

    Powered Respirators

Good idea, I have some decent buds but haven't tried them for this yet, will give it a go. Many thanks.
