    Newbie query, what components required

I was thinking maybe spacer fixed underneath each shelf... But the photo above looks like something else is used, wondering if there is some component I can buy that does this job.

    Newbie query, what components required

Hi, I'm pretty much a newbie with woodworking, but want to make something like this: Basically a spool holder for fly tying, the design is the shelves swivelling around central dowels. I've no idea what hardware components I'd need for this, anyone have an ideas? Thanks in advance! Mike

    mini wood lathe

Thanks - it seems the best bet for a beginner is to pick up a good used lathe from eBay. Thanks for the advise.

    mini wood lathe

Re: Joining a club? Yes, I've been looking at 'maker spaces' - I live in Teddington - and not a massive amount near me. I was thinking of booking a day or w/e course and then (as suggested above) getting something better second hand. The consensus is the mini-Chinesium is a waste of money ...

This seems like a relatively inexpensive way to do that and the compact size...

    Newbie advise

Hi, Thanks for all the advise. I was thinking of a track-saw as I'm really not sure I could cut straight enough with a hand-saw. I've practiced a bit with a straight edge - using a Japanese pull saw (which was ok, but did this on fairly small pieces). I found using a guide and jigsaw (with...

    Newbie advise

HI, I'm new to woodworking and need some advise on a project: I'm going to make my son a chess board/table and had a look at some tutorials on YouTube - "end grain chess boards". My query is - do you think I'd be able to use a track saw with a rip cut guide for precise (repetitive) cuts rather...
