    Had a lawn - now a bombsite !!!

Thanks for the info guys. Part 1 of "making good" seems to have happened today whilst I was at work. The lawn has been flattened and covered with topsoil. Yet to see what they are going to do with the driveway. Jeff

    Had a lawn - now a bombsite !!!

These are a couple of before and after images. The double garage on the left is my workshop and to make matters even worse, you can see that is now on the wrong side of the hole to be able to get in. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2204/244 ... f516_b.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3256/244...

    Had a lawn - now a bombsite !!!

We had a powercut yesterday for 8 hours. Seems an 11Kv cable had developed a fault and the whole estate was out. Finally they traced the problem to the main feed cable and more specifically to the part of the cable that is buried under my front lawn !!! This morning they started digging and now...

    Oh Happy Days!

Hi Simon. I'm envious for 2 reasons. First I'm in IT. It bores the pants off me and yours sounds like a great job. Secondly my job forced me to move from Bournemouth and I loved it there. Great news. Jeff

    Road Tax query?

Hi DW I would have to take issue with this rather sweeping statement. I work at the DVLA in Swansea. Not for them, but for one of their subcontractors and I am well versed in the capabilities of their IT systems. I could tell you facts and figures about the DVLA that would make you cringe...

    Road Tax query?

Hi Rob Not sure if there is a grace period or not, but the EVL system (licensing on the web) is very good. Your vehicle will be registered as Taxed on the DVLA IT systems and the tax disc should arrive in the post within a day or 2. Jeff

Finally, something worth watching on the TV!!

I too was looking forward to seeing this series again but having watched the first one (The chest of drawers), I was disappointed. Maybe my woodworking experience (not skills !!) have moved on a bit from when I watched it the first time around, but things just jumped out such as sloppy...

    Plano Clamps

Got some cash from Chrimbo and as a number of future projects coming up have panels in their construction, I'm looking at possibly investing in some Plano clamps. As they're not that cheap, before I commit, can I get some opinions from members who may have the Plano system or experience of it...

Painting wood (will I still be welcome ?)

We are about to change all our internal doors to Oak rather than the cheapo painted white ones that were installed by the builder. We have the doors but because they are a different size to the ones we have now I have had to install new liners and whilst I was at it have replaced all the...

    bowed timber

Hi TF, welcome. I have bought sheet goods (Oak veneered MDF) from Nottage Joinery in Pyle. They may be worth a phone call to see what else they supply. Maybe a call to Timberman in Bronwydd Arms Carmarthen. They may be able to tell you if there are any decent suppliers in the area. Although I...

    Don't laugh.

That's nice work Paul. Worthy of Norm and far better than anything I've seen on Reclaimers or The Salvager. Lovely rocking horse. I bet the recipient of that is over the moon. Jeff
