Thanks @HOJ i thought the Laguna was a 12” saw, wow ok that makes a big difference then. How’s the fence, does it deflect much when it’s locked down?

Record Power TS2 Sliding Table Saw

@Bristol_Rob thanks for writing about this saw. I’m considering one at the moment. Would you have any updates on how the saw is performing in terms of accuracy and rigidity in the trunnion. Is the rise and fall running smoothly or is there any sticking/binding/play etc? Thanks.

@HOJ Do you have any images of the Laguna?

Thanks for that @HOJ I’d id love to hear more about how you’re finding the Laguna in terms of stability, quality, power, how rigid the fence is etc. My needs are accurately ripping and crosscutting solid wood, cutting shoulder lines on tenons, using a tenoning jig, but also accurately squaring...

Thanks Paul, that’s great to hear. The TA 315 is high on my list, the only thing worrying me about it is that the trunnion mechanism is pinned into the underside of the table and can’t be adjusted, so if the blade isn’t absolutely parallel to the mitre slots, there’s no adjustment to sort that...

Yeah, I don’t have room for something like an altendorf, and I wouldn’t want one as my only saw. At work we have a 3.2m Rolland slider and having to walk around that slider to get to the rip fence is a real pain. Great for panels, but not as a general saw imho. I’ve got an old Wadkin BZB 20...

It got a pretty good review in F&C https://www.dm-tools.co.uk/extraimages/F&C252-TS1-review.pdf

Yeah I read that, unfortunately most if it gets far off the point. It’s reassuring to hear you say that after watching the video you think more of it. I was thinking to myself, jeez these guys must have seriously high expectations of beefiness from a saw. I’ve been working with wood since...

Thanks for the insights @deema I’d love to see one in the flesh too. Going from the video I posted with the images, those castings seem to be quite substantial, but I’m a bit concerned about the parallel guides too. I’ve had too many plunge routers rack and bind on me. A lot of American...

That’s true, but mitre slots are useful for a lot more than sleds.

Hi @deema and @Sideways , I just stumbled across this video showing the insides of the record power TS2. What do you guys think? also some screenshots from it.

I spoke to a guy at Record Power and he said he can't see them making the TS2 that much longer as it's outside their target market/demographic. It's too much trade focused rather than diy/hobby. I'd love to get under one to check it out for myself and see what it's made of. I'd imagine the...

I hear you Sideways and thanks for the help, I guess I'm being greedy looking for the best of both worlds, cabinet and small scale panel. That's kind of what I have in my Hammer, only I'm completely over the combination machine inconveniences and also reaching in to the hammer to change a belt...
